The year 2014 marked a milestone for all the TFVC accountancy
students. Last August 22, 2014 our school launched on its first
year the TFVC-JPIA and it was immediately recognized as a local
chapter by the National Federation-JPIA. Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) is the largest student organization in
the Philippines with more than 80,000 members from different
colleges and universities. This organization aims to promote and
uphold moral values, and to elevate the quality and standards of
education of accountancy students in preparation for their career.
As part of the many programs and activities of JPIA, some TFVC students experienced for
the first time to compete with other schools on the areas of Business Law and Taxation.
Some joined and enjoyed being part of the NCR-Convention. Still others had a wonderful
learning experience in their participation in the most recent seminar of De la Salles Exceed
-Building Bridges towards Globalization.
This organization opened a whole new world for the accountancy students of our school and
we hope that we could continue what we had started. To God be the Glory!

TFVC Approves CBAA in Joining Philippine Junior Marketing Association

By Jason G. Nuela
The College of Business Administration and
Accountancy is now making itself to be one of
competitive schools in the National Capital
Region. And yet, we have joined another organization outside school that conducts different academic and non-academic activities and
competitions like the Junior Philippine Institute
of Accountants which has been recognized by
The Fisher Valley College.
According to Prof. Marlon B. Raquel, Depart-

ment Head of CBAA, talks between him and

officers of Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA) are underway. Joining on the said
organization will give the BSBA students to have
the opportunity to meet and network with
other people with similar interest. PJMA is a
professional student-managed national organization devoted to create venues for young marketers all over the Philippines to excel through
opportunities that will enhance their knowledge
and experience and enhance their marketing

The Must-Attend CBAA General Assembly

By Eleazar L. Pangan, Jr.
The College of Business Administration and
Accountancys 1st General Assembly for A.Y.

2014-2015 was held on 12th day of July 2014 at

the TFVC Fellowship Hall. The purpose of the
assembly was to inform the students about the
schools rules and regulations, vision-mission,
important upcoming events, and others. This
orientation was very essential as it helped the
students grow and become leaders of a community. The General Assembly started off with the
welcome remarks; opening prayer was led by the
host of that day, Naiza Mae Adrados (3rd year
BSBA student) followed by the singing of Philippine National Anthem. After the welcome remarks, the student party-lists (BOCAL Party list
and #TEAMSMART Party List) were given the
chance to be introduced to all CBAA students and
CBAA faculty and they were greeted and welcomed wholeheartedly. After introducing the
candidates, the assembly moved on to its orienta-

filled learning events such as seminars and trainings.

It also aims to tap the inner competitiveness of each
school by engaging them to friendly competitions
and recognize the hard work and passion of fellow
marketers by rewarding them at the end of the academic year. It helps them to decide which career
path in Marketing they would eventually want to
pursue and facilitate the networking of marketing
students from all over the country.
Prof. Raquel said that approval of the colleges
application for PJMA membership is expected before the first semester, A.Y. 2015-2016 ends.

tion proper. The CBAA

students were informed of
everything they needed to
know by the former CBAA
student officers: Jerome
Mercado and Eric Sekyang.
After a short while, the
students were treated with
a little special number from
various students in CBAA
selected by the candidate of
the Bocal Party List and now elected Treasurer of
CBAA Student Organization, Nicol Krista
Atienza. This General Assembly, led by the
CBAA Department Head, Prof. Marlon B.
Raquel, aimed to inform students on ways they
can do to help the school and unite as one big
happy family that the main goal is to create more
leaders.

Seminars are designed to
give you tons of usable
content on a variety of
topics. The other purpose
of seminar is to get you
introduced to several experts in a short amount of
time. Like for example, an
internship seminar. Do you need to get the hands
-on experience that is talked about when discussing the importance of internships or is it really a
matter of just landing the right job? Yes, the
Internship Seminar tackled about the essence of

internship. The last internship seminar

was held on 30th day of July 2014 at the
Audio-Visual Room. All 4th year BSA
students organized the seminar which
enabled to fulfill the task given by the
internship adviser, Prof. Marlon B.
Raquel. The topic was Accounting in
Real World: The Corporate Environment Issues, Structure and Challenges
by the resource speaker, Mr. Jojo C.
Lagos. Mr. Lagos is a Certified Public
Accountant and is the Finance Manager of Malaya Newspaper. A good seminar speaker will
always give you tons of content you can use but
yet provide a way for you to get even more. But
for me, its just brainstorming your ideas and

giving immediate feedback. As a moderator of this

event, I have learned that in getting spin off ideas
from others, meaning, you might tell someone
your main idea and then theyll suggest you create
something slightly different.

CBAA Implements BSA Qualifying Examinations

By Prof. Ofelia C. Buenafe
The Fisher Valley
College implemented
the qualifying exam
policy to all BSA
students effective
A.Y. 2014-2015.
According to Prof.
Marlon B. Raquel,
CBAA Department
Head, those who will
not pass the examination will be advised to shift to BS Business Administration. The purpose of the qualifying examination is to determine whether or not the
student has acquired sufficient mastery of his or
her major area of study and to warrant admission

to the said program. Qualifying examination is organized to screen students as a

sort of evaluation as to what they have
learned from two consecutive semesters.
The examination is conducted by a committee of at least 4 to 5 faculty members
who teach accounting and business law
subjects. The student should obtain a copy
of the exam permit and pay necessary fee
in order to take or re-take the examina-

The CBAA Academic Excellence Awards

By Eric G. Sekyang

Nowadays, it has been a tradition in the

College of Business Administration and Accountancy to acknowledge and give necessary awards
to those students who gave their fully best to

receive a certificate of
recognition and become
a role model of The
Fisher Valley College. I
have always found the
CBAA to be the most
engaging area of Academic Excellence. I
work very closely with
my accounting books
and it helps me a lot to
achieve my goal of becoming an excellent
student awardee and the reason why Im proud
to be one of them. I think its safe to say that my
experiences have solidified my decision to pursue
my accounting profession and to become a Certified Public Accountant someday.

posted at the College Bulletin Board) indicating

whether the student has passed or failed. The
Chairperson should then return all documents to
Registrar Office to validate the record for his or
her enrollment approval.
Giving certificates can motivate student to study
hard. It shows a harmonious relationship between
us and to our school.
Student connectedness to school and a positive
school climate have been identified as two factors
that support academic performance and behavior.
Enhancing the connectedness are schools that
provide opportunities for student leadership and
recognize student contributions to the school.
Institution in which people belonged in a leadership is valued and cultivated by different organization such as JPIA, JMAP and CBAA Student
Organization are more likely to have a climate
that is conducive to student development and
learning. Students who feel connected to the
school are more likely to attend school regularly
and stay in a library that serves as their comfort
zone. This can result to increased levels of getting
a chance to be awarded as excellent students of
CBAA.

indicated that anyone who violated the rules and
regulation will be terminated and can no longer
access the secret Facebook page.

Letter to My Dear Friend

By Jonathan Magtaan
Dearest Friend,
Ill wrote you this letter, and I had to tell you my
story about my everyday spent at Ate Rose Canteen
Theres a lot of things come into my mind every
time I hear Ate Rose Canteen. My first impression
about the Ate Rose canteen was that it was quite
ordinary, with the collage pictures on the wall; a
house that needs more repairs. Its not you and not
the very loud voice like a mourning old woman
(But not that too old) whos been a good friend
of everybody. If you spend your time to bring back
memories of simple meals accompanied by great
experiences, well, it gives you a lot of things to
reminisce. There is something about Ate Rose Canteen that makes everyone feel nostalgic. TFVC
Students was the patronizing customers ever since

when Ate Rose Canteen became Tambayan.

Tambayan means celebrating a feeling of togetherness. It doesnt have perfect ambience at all,
but it actually makes us feel like penning down
short memories; playing videoke and singing
like describing the simple beauty of nature. Ate
Rose Canteen is the place for food and friends.
It is without this so-called Tambayan, our
college life would be like a monsoon without
rain. Ate Rose Canteen of TFVC students seems
to be a perfect land fall of fun, charm, rejoice,
gossip, fashion and loud laughter. Sometimes I
think of Ate Rose canteen is going to come to
an end when you feel like youre leaving in a

college life soon especially if you have built

memories that will keep you missing it. Going
to Ate Rose canteen makes me re-live my college days. I love the foods and I love to share
my feelings over bottle of soft drinks or a cup of
coffee with my colleagues. I realized that going
to Ate Rose canteen made me develop a good
rapport with my colleagues from my codepartment and to other department. It is not
only the food that the students love to munch
on, but the conversations they share, jokes and
giggles that form an integral part of their college
lives. How I wish we could hang out again.
Hope to spend time with you and to our costand-Byers.
Yours truly,
Bebang
