The Journey
This studio investigation is about my journey. The journey project is about documenting
my art education journey with achievements as well as the struggles that I faced to get to end
goal. The form in which I am documenting and displaying my journey is through a story. The
Journey story is to be illustrated in a book format. For this project I am creating a book in where
I have to illustrate my path while answering questions on who influenced me to get to my end
goal, what made me want to go the path I took, and how I ended up at my end goal. This story
can be literal or metaphorical and can be illustrated in any form or shape that I want.
The reason in why I would want to carry out these learned strategies is so that it can help
me visually see my path that I took to get to where I want to go. Its a way in where I can
document/illustrate my unique story. Through the book making process it is allowing me to be
the artist by using my imagination and creativity to display a story. Through this investigation it
is allowing me to look and reflect on this journey and it allows me to solve any problems that can
cause distractions from reaching my end goal.
The ways in which I could adapt this project in a high school environment is by doing
something similar like having the students make a collage telling a story. I could adapt what I
learned from this investigation by introducing the students to different ideas on how they could
create and illustrate their story. Before the students start doing their project they could
brainstorm different ideas and themes that they would like to share. Through this project the
students can learn and reflect on the things that they have accomplished it also allows the student

to look and reflect back to the things that they faced and they can see how they overcame the
obstacles that they came across throughout their journey. This can help them think and make
plans on the things they can do to help them reach their goal.
The Journey project can be done in a different way, the students can make a book or a
sculpture that tells a story. Another way in which this project can be done instead of illustrating a
story through a book it can be done by having the students make an all about me box. For the
shoebox idea they would write a poem about themselves and then they would add images with
words that inspire them. They could make a collage on the shoebox and inside the shoebox they
could add things that represent them. By doing this is allows the student to share thing about
themselves and it helps other students to get to know more about each other and it lets the
teacher get to know the students more. The students could even make designs and decorate the
shoebox to make it more personal. By making this project personal it will be more interesting
and it might get the students attention to hopefully create something meaningful and hopefully
something they would like to keep.
