Mission
Statement
The mission for Sunny Smiles Daycare
Center is to build knowledge, encourage
and build strong independent children
while creating a safe, hands-on, and
diverse environment for the children and
their families to explore the endless
possibilities of the education. Our
program is all about purposeful planning
and getting children involved in making
their own decisions and choices. Our goal
is to make sure your child excel in their
development domains and that we adjust
our program to meet their needs and
skills.

Philosophy
At Sunny Smiles we believe that children
are our future. We believe that children
learn better through hands-on activities,
real life experiences and problem solving.
We encourage children to express
themselves through their work and able
to use their imagination through creative
experiences. All of our lesson plans and
activities meets the South Carolina Early
Learning Standards and is appropriate
for each grade level and childs age in our
program. At Sunny Smiles we are
teaching children how to become strong
independent individuals and to strive in
everything they do.

Curriculum
Infants: Our infant room, we mainly focusing on the
children being bonds with our caregivers, and making
sure the infants are succeeding in their milestones.
Therefore, our caregivers are talking singing, and
providing the infants with plenty of tummy time.
Toddlers: Our toddler classrooms are a free flow
classroom that is incorporated with whole group, small
group and center time. To adults it may look like
children are play but they are learning life lessons,
math, science, social studies, and language concepts.
PreK: Our PreK classrooms have a flexible schedule
that has lesson plans for the week. Our lesson plans
and activities integrates math, science, social studies
and language skills and concepts for the children while
providing different levels for the children complete
the task.

At Sunny Smiles, we strongly believe in
building bonds with families and encourage
them to get involve in their childs education
and school events. By encouraging the
families to get involve in their childrens
education can increase the childs selfesteem and confidence. Sunny Smiles
strongly encourage the families of our
students to attend the center for visits,
events, parent-teacher conferences or just
to come and observe their children in their
classroom environment.

Diversity Statement
Here at Sunny Smiles we do not discriminate.
We accept all students, staff members and
families into our program regardless of their
race, gender, language, ethicality, regional
beliefs, family structure and cultures. At
Sunny Smiles we provide an un-bias and openminded environment to make sure that
everyone is comfortable in our program. In
addition, we provide teachers and assistances
that are bilingual for students and family
members.

School Hours
7:25 a.m. Students may enter the building
7:30 a.m. Students are able to enter the
classroom
8:00 a.m. School begins
2:30 p.m. School ends
3:00 p.m. After school programs starts
6:00 p.m. After school programs ends
Students have between 7:25 a.m. -7:50 a.m. to
eat breakfast.
The center will send home a newsletter and calls
the families to let them know about
cancelations, early dismissals, and holidays.

Drop Off/ Pick Up


Drop Off:
If the children plan on eating breakfast please drop them off
at 7:25 a.m. otherwise the children have to be dropped off 10
minutes before 8:00 a.m. After 8:00 a.m. the adult will have to
enter the building and sign the children in at the front desk.
Pick Up:
Pick Up time is at 2:30 p.m. Car riders will be dismissed by
their grade levels. The children will have name tags around
their necks and the parents should have their copy of their
childs name tag hanging in the window for confirmation.
For early pick-up the parent must be on the emergency contact
list and show identification at the front office.
Any changes to the way your child normally goes home or being
picked up need to be submitted in writing a week in advance
and turned in to the front office.
For safety measurements, please follow the car route,
follow the arrows, obey the speed limit and do not merge in
the other lane.

Snack Time
10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. snacks will be served
to the children inside their classroom.
Every 2 weeks a child will be selected to bring
snacks for the class. There will be a
newsletter send out a week in advance to
inform the families when its their childs turn
to provide snacks.
The newsletter will also include a list of foods
not to bring due to childrens allergies.

Nap Time
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is nap time for the
children.
Each child has their own napping mats.
Adults must provide their child their own
personal blankets and pillow for personal
use.
The mats are wiped down everyday before
and after nap time. Then the blankets and
pillows cases will be washed later on during
the day.

Visiting Hours
At Sunny Smiles we strongly encourage
families to come out to visit and have
lunch with their children. Families are
allowed to visit children during snack,
lunch, recess and during free play.
Adult must visit the front office, sign in
with Drivers License and receive a visitors
sticker.The adult will then leave their
Drivers License at the front desk. When
leaving the center they will have to sign
out and pick up their Drivers License.

Medication
Teachers are not allowed to give the children
any kind of medication. All medication must
be send to nurses office with an doctors
note.
Do not send Tylenol, cough drops or over the
counter medications. Allergies shots and
asthmas pumps must remain in the nurses
office.
In addition, do not send a child to school with
a fever, ear infection or other contagious
colds as they can spread and infect the other
students.

Extra Clothes
At Sunny Smiles, we strongly encourage
children to explore and be hands-on
throughout the day therefore, children
will be getting messy and it important for
the families provide extra clothes incase
of an emergency. Clothes should be in a
Ziploc bag with the childs name on it and
includes underwear, socks, shirt, and
pants.
We do accept donations of all sized and
old clothes.
Sunny Smiles also has a laundry area to
wash the childrens messy clothing if
necessary.
