Role of Educators

After reading Chapter 10 of Chiricos Globalization: Prospects and

Problems, it asks about how great a role should global educational models
play in determining the educational needs of a country and also should
everyone be encouraged to seek the highest levels of education and be
prepared for the job market. It also says explain how education socializes
children to be members of their society and of the globe. Provide examples
from your own schooling of how you learned about your nation and its place
in the world.

With education, It is a global expectation that everyone goes to school.

In most countries, nearly everyone does from primary schooling to secondary
education. Most of the time with the government taking care of school
expenses, it is necessary that educational models play a huge factor in
taking care the educational needs of a country. functions. It is essential for
individuals to make a living in a modern economy, for a societys economic
development, and for the infrastructure of the global economy. Although

economic functions of education seem to dominate education, people and

societies expect an economic benefit for their investment in education. It has
had an arguably more important role reinforcing conceptions of national
identity. A well-developed educational system is featured prominently in the
global model of the modern society, propelling educational expansion from
the 19th century and accelerating expansion since the 1960s. Education is a
complex institution, serving individual, societal, and global functions. Basic
education, primary and secondary, is now a global cultural norm, viewed as a
human right that should be guaranteed by the state. With the change of
society, it is becoming more of a requirement that people have the highest
level of education, such as master or bachelor degrees.

Schooling serves a multitude of purposes in all societies. Education

provides important social and individual benefits. In developing nations,
where other institutional systems may also be weak, schools reach children
on multiple levels. Even at the primary level, education helps reduce
poverty, offers a safe environment, teaches life skills, and is a conduit for
providing medical care such as vaccines and nutritional supplements. In all
countries, children practice the rituals of civil religion in schools. When they
sing national anthems, salute flags, or honor national leaders and historical
events in pageants, children celebrate the nation and its values. Flags,
pictures of national leaders, displays of national symbols (such as the
Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Liberty Bell, or Statue of Liberty)

are as much a part of school equipment as desks. These objects are treated
reverentially, particularly the flag. They are objects with sacred status.
Educational debate often focuses on how to fashion citizens of the nation
rather than the best educational practices for learning. From my personal
schooling, we were always taught to respect the history of the country and
learn the three main basic things: math, for learning how to count money
and add things up, reading, for learning how to talk correctly and learn
different aspects of history, and science, for learning how technology works.
These were always told to every students on what was important in school
and also in life.
