Relevance

relevant to learners, their
needs, and their learning

ii) Ensuring the instructional
units are relevant to one

link together and build upon
previous work.

The game was developed

with an educational purpose; to
teach kids about the constitution
of the United States and the
rights of US citizens by
presenting them with real world
scenarios of law cases and their
courtroom verdicts. The game
can be played by elementary and
high school aged students in a
social studies course.

Embedding

Assessing how closely the

academic content is coupled
with the fantasy/story content
where fantasy refers to the
narrative structure, storylines,
player experience, dramatic
structure, fictive elements, etc.

Transfer

How the player can use

previous knowledge and apply
it in other areas.

Level = 3
The game is based
around your character which
runs a law firm. You must decide
whether the client has a right
based on their situation. You hire
lawyers who each handle a
different amendment right and
based on the situation, you bring
that client to the correct lawyer.
Successfully defending a client in
accordance with their rights
results in a courtroom win and
an increase in prestige points
with which you can afford to hire
more lawyers with different
expertise.
Level = 3
Throughout the game,
learners can use what they
already know about the US
constitution. The learners are
also utilizing their recalling,
remembering and memorizing

skills throughout the game. They

are also able to learn more about
citizenship and constitutional
rights.

Adaption

A change in behavior as a
consequence of transfer.

Immersion

The player intellectually

investing in the context of the
game.

Naturalizat
ion

The development of habitual

and spontaneous use of
information derived within the
game.

Level =3
There is an opportunity
for the learners to see the
consequences if they choose the
wrong lawyer for their client. If a
wrong lawyer is chosen, they
lose the case which can happen
in real life scenarios. The
learners need to understand
their rights. The game develops
initial knowledge and can take
learning further.
Level = 3
The learner is in charge of
the law firm and must make an
interpretation of the
amendments and use judgement
in each individual court case
which keeps them fully
immersed in the game. The
multiple clients that enter the
office at once, provides the
learner to increase their time
management skills. As the game
progresses, the learner becomes
more familiar with the
constitutional rights and their
corresponding amendment.
Level = 3
The learners need to
make decisions throughout the
game. The learners begin to
memorize the constitutional
amendments by repetition. The
learners can bring their new
developed knowledge into real
life situations.

Comments:

Would you
recommend
this game to
use in a
classroom?

YES or NO

Other Notes:

This game does not pose any

bias and presented the material
in an engaging way. The learners
are able to pick their character.
The game gives the learner a
choice of choosing a boy or a girl
and in different races. Within the
game, the clients and lawyers
are a mix of gender and race.
If so or not why or why not?
I would definitely recommend
this game because it helps
learners understand and
memorize the constitutional
amendments and understand
what our rights are as
individuals. They can take these
scenarios into their everyday life.
It is a great form of studying
when learning about this topic in
school. The game even provides
feedback by producing a
newspaper front page that shows
how your law firm is doing. This
motivates the learners to try and
make their law firm better after
each level completed. This game
provides the learners with an
opportunity to learn about
citizenship.
