I'd like to highlight what I saw during my classroom walkthrough on Jan 13, 1:05-1:30pm, 5th period:

Criteria
1. Facilitates organized, student-centered,
objective-driven lessons (teacher-student &
student-student interaction)

6. Teacher questioning techniques

Observation & Remarks


Students are taking a timed 10-question quiz on socrative.com.
Students take a new quiz after that.
Students receive immediate feedback on socrative.com.

Students are seated in groups of 2, 3, 4, 6, or 7. Rationale?

Students are engaged and actively discussing the problems with


each other. They are solving quadratic equations using various
methods e.g. square rooting, factoring.
Timed quiz on socrative.com creates a sense of urgency.

Students are actively discussing the problems with each other.


Kids are generally on task and focused on their quiz. Most of
their conversations are about the problems being attempted.
In 6 out of 8 groups, kids are lending a helping hand with the math
problems the other 2 groups were more individualistic.
