Plan approved by:

Students are learning about dealing with emotions. What they are, what makes them feel that way, and
what they can do to handle the situation.
Behavioral Objective(s):
The students will be able to identify what mood they are feeling during the morning with 70% accuracy.
The students will be able to create a chain link with how they are feeling and why with 60% accuracy.
The students will be able to create a popcorn bag based on one of the emotions from Inside out with 70% accuracy.
Pennsylvania State Academic Standard(s) or Common Core Standards:

PA Alternate Standard: R1.1.3.C following instructions: open ended.

Materials and/or Equipment:

Scissors
Glue
Eye pieces
Mouth pieces
Different types, colors (red, green, blue, yellow, purple), and textures
Brown bags (for popcorn)
Crayons/colored pencils, markers
Popcorn
Movie Inside out
Modifications for Individual Differences:
All students in the class will do this activity therefore some will need additional guidance/help from the teacher, adapted
scissors, etc.
Anticipatory Set/ Lesson Opening:
I will tell the students we will be watching the movie Inside Out from 10:00-11:30 but first we need to decorate our popcorn
bags based on an emotion from the movie. We will also be making an emotion chain.
Lesson Sequence:
The teacher will inform the students that they will be watching the movie Inside Out because it is the end of an
emotion/feelings unit.
The students will be decorating their brown bag/popcorn bag with different materials from the teacher.
The students will need to think how they are feeling and will hopefully decorate their popcorn bag accordingly. So the
teacher will need to have enough materials to accommodate if all the students (9) choose the same emotion/feeling.
The some children will need more guidance and help from the teachers and aids than others.
If there is time remaining before the movie, the students will make a chain link of emotions and why they feel that
way. If there is not time, they will do it during the allotted time at the end of the day.
The students will watch the movie Inside Out with popcorn.
Formal/Informal Evaluations
No formal assessment is given.
Informal assessment: The students are able to identify if they are feeling: happy, sad, afraid/scared, disgusted, or angry at the
moment. They will be informally assessed if they are able to identify WHY they are feeling that way too. They will also be
assessed on their ability to do basic skills; cutting, gluing, coloring, etc.
