To Whom It May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Rebecca (Becca) Chavez, for this
teaching position.
I have known Becca (and have had the wonderful opportunity to work with her) since August
2015 through my work as a course instructor and a field instructor at Michigan State University.
Becca is an intern of mine in the Elementary Teacher Preparation Program at Michigan State
University. In addition, she was a student of mine in the MSU Elementary Teacher Preparation
course TE 801 (Professional Roles and Teaching Practice 1: Elementary Mathematics Methods).
Becca was an excellent student in my mathematics methods course. She actively contributed to
class discussion, provided thoughtful reflections, and completed assignments on time with great
effort. She has great communication skills, both written and verbal. In addition, Becca had an
excellent attendance record and she was a great leader in my class, especially during group work.
I have observed Becca teach several times in her 3rd grade placement at Grand Rapids Public
Schools. She is very professional, engaging, and clear in her instruction and promotes a very
supportive and positive learning environment. She is always open to feedback and she is always
trying to improve her teaching practice. Every time I observe her teaching, I see improvements
and she always tries to attempt new teaching strategies. Whenever I read over her lesson plans, I
can tell that she truly knows her students and is keeping their needs at heart.
I think Becca would be an excellent addition as a teacher to your school. From what I have
observed of her in a teacher's role and her interactions with myself and her colleagues, she would
be an asset to your current team of teachers. In addition, she has developed a great rapport with
her students parents, exercising her abilities to communicate in both English and Spanish. Her
effective communication skills, ability to fill a variety of group roles, and professional attitude
will allow her to easily interact within the school community as a professional. Seeing the ease
with which she led her class through lessons in all subjects makes me have complete confidence
in her abilities as a teacher at any school that she chooses to apply.
I highly recommend Becca for this wonderful opportunity. She is an exemplary teacher and
student. She is the kind of person that will be an asset, anywhere she chooses to go.
If you need any additional information about Becca please feel free to email me at

Thank you very much for your consideration of Becca.
Sincerely,
Lauren Cavner Williams
