Abortion is one of those subjects that everyone seems to have a strong opinion
on, but no one wants to talk about it.
People also tend to make very strong assertions about what they would do in
certain situations, which often change once they are in that particular situation.
That being said, my own view has a lot to do with personal reasons. I feel that
unless under very extreme circumstances, I feel abortion is wrong.
Circumstances such as a high risk of the mother dying or the fetus isnt going to
make it outside the womb. Another circumstance that would warrant abortion is in
the case of conception due to rape. This is a traumatic even for a woman,
something she has to deal with for the rest of her life, having to carry a baby on
top of it would only add to her mental suffering. Not having ever been in a
position to make the decision, from where I sit now, those would be my limited
reasons would consider having an abortion.
If I were a lawmaker I would not outlaw abortion, I believe in the freedom to
choose what we want for ourselves. I would however consider putting limits on
abortion.
As a lawmaker I would absolutely make selective abortion an illegal practice,
such was done in Great Britain where selective abortion has already been
banned by a 181 to 1 vote, according to the article Why Gendercide is the Real
war on women. The article also states that in China, the birth ratio of girls to
boys is the most skewed in the world -- approximately 100 girls born for every
118 boys. (Littlejohn, Reggie. Why Gendercide is the Real War on Women

In the past China instituted a one-child policy making it illegal to for families to
have more than one child. Since boys are more desirable offspring to have,
abortion became an option for those who were found to be having girls. It also
was used as a form of birth control when forced abortions were done on women
who were found to be in violation of the policy. (Pletcher, Kenneth. One-Child
