Lesson: Commercial Art-Name Design
Art 1
Preparation: A worksheet will be prepared for the students to complete on
determining the similarities and differences in commercial art versus fine art. The
students will gather white paper from the teachers desk to begin the project. They
will be re-informed of previous commercial art information.

Lesson Aim for Today: Today they will be learning about name design in commercial
art, and how it relates to previous projects. The students will draw their name in a
way of their choosing to fit the entire page. I will explain various steps at the
appropriate time.

Student Learning Objective: By completion of the lesson, the students will


understand that commercial art is a tedious and multistep process. The students
will understand various terms associated with commercial art. The students will
know many different ways of designing letters.

The students will be re-introduced to the ways of commercial art
through discussion

The students will be shown a finished product of the project to see its complexity,
and in the end they will complete their own name design project. This will help them
to make connections though the various commercial art projects.
