Environmental Skills

Gained insight into water protection and the impacts of eutrophication on

watersheds and lakes in Manitoba as well as the importance of riparian zones
for nutrient filtering and water level management
I am familiar with the process of species identification using taxonomic keys,
through the successful completion of biology and ecology courses
I have used a variety of sampling methods, such as volume and timed
samples in water to collect fauna; transect lines in fields or forests to analyze
species density and dominance; and grid samples using random and
stratified random sampling to find plant species density in a localized area
Successful completion of environmental responsibilities and the law has given
me in depth knowledge of environmental conservation acts such as SARA and
the Fisheries Act, their implications and enforcement options
Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, such as skid steers, ATVs,
UTVs, Snowmobiles, large trucks and small tractors to perform daily tasks on
the farm and to perform assigned tasks at Manitoba Hydro

Years of camping near lakes and in forests made me proficient in water,
wilderness, and wildlife safety, and the importance of preparedness.

Public Relations

Experience communicating with the public and local business owners as a

means of raising funds for high school basketball tournaments
Projects worked on while employed with Manitoba Hydro allowed for
opportunities to liaise between corporations, departments, and management
to achieve goals such as revamping a recycling program
Experiences such as being a student grade representative in high school have
increased my comfort in delivering presentations to large audiences
French as a second language increases my ability to communicate effectively
