CLASS RULES FOR AMERICAN HISTORY


Course Content
1. This course will deal mainly with 20 th century American History. It will
cover a time period from Industrialization to present day. The main purpose
of the course will be to acquaint the student with the events of the past,
which have shaped our nation today.
2. Topics covered in the first semester will include: The Constitution,
the Political Spectrum, Gilded Age, Rise of Industry, American Imperialism,
Progressive Era, U.S. entry into WWI, the Roaring Twenties, the Great
Depression, FDR and the New Deal. Second semester topics will include:
the background of WWII, U.S. entry into WWII; the development of the
Cold War; War in Korea, Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, the 1960s,
Watergate and present day problem areas.

Course Grading System:


1. Quizzes You will receive approximately 13-15 pop quizzes worth
10 points each.. I will drop your 3-5 lowest quiz grades (this includes any
excused absences). Quizzes cannot be made up!!!!! If your absence is
unexcused on the day of a quiz, your quiz score will be a zero and you cannot
drop it.
2. Homework Is expected to be done correctly, neatly, and on time!!
If you are absent it is YOUR responsibility to find out what you have missed.
If you copy someone elses work or let someone copy your work, you will
receive zero points for that assignment. Assignments will only be accepted
one day late for 1/2 off. After that they are recorded as 0. Remember
when something is due at the beginning of the hour. . . it will be considered
late if it is turned in any time after that!!
3. Tests Are to be taken when scheduled. If you are absent the day
before a test you will still take the test on schedule. If you are absent the
day of the test you will make up the test the next day, be prepared!! If you

are absent more than two days before the test or more than 5 days
throughout a unit, you will need to make arrangements to make up the test.
If you do not make up the test within a week, it will be a 0!!!
4. Responsibility Points All students will be given 100 points in this
category at the beginning of the quarter. You will be docked points for
being irresponsible, i.e. not having a writing utensil, your textbook, or
notebook, sleeping, or inappropriate behavior and language.

6. Semester grade you semester grade will be the average of your
nine week grades along with the final exam grade. You must pass at least 2
of the three AND have a 60% or better average to receive your credit and
complete the required projects. (Your exam and nine week grades are based
upon percentages not letter grades.)
7. Grading Scale is as follows:
99% and up
