APOLLINARIANISM STARTS
The heresy was taught by Apollinaris or Bishop of Laodicea in
Syria about 361

Condemned by the Second General Council at Constantinople

in 381

APOLLINARIANISM
Jesus did not have a human mind but a divine mind and a
human body

This heresy taught that the two natures of Christ could not
coexist with one person

They taught that Jesus could not be fully divine, and that the
same time be fully human.

WHAT MADE THIS HERESY WRONG?

As Catholics we believe that Jesus is not only human but also
divine. This means tat He is completely human and at the
same time is also completely divine

The Heresy disagrees with out faith because it is suggesting

that Jesus could not be fully human and divine, but a little of
both

We believe that he has a human and divine mind

PEOPLE WHO FOUGHT AGAINST THIS

HERESY
The Second General Council at Constantinople was the
meeting in which this heresy was abolished

This council officially declared this as wrong, and that the

Catholic faith does not fallow this teaching

The councils president was Eutychius, who was the patriarch

of Constantinople

HOW IT WAS DEFEATED

The Second General Council at Constantinople decided that
this teaching was wrong, and with that condemned this
heresy saying it went against our Catholic faith

This defeated the heresy because it was recognized as wrong

and that Catholics should not follow it

After this the heresy started to disappear
