Background
Awarded a Guinness world record for most successful forensic artist.
Started as a crime sketch artist after she proved to the Houston Police Department
that she could draw almost identical sketches of a person from only an eyewitness
description.
Has helped catch suspects in over 30% of the cases that she has worked on with
over 1000 criminals arrested
Is able to connect with victims because at the age of 21 she was sexually assaulted
in which she almost died.

Baby Grace: A decomposed baby girl who had been murdered was found in a big
blue plastic utility chest and thrown into the ocean. In 45 minutes Lois was able
to draw a full color pastel portrait. It was released on November 2, 2007 and by
November 5th, the grandmother in Ohio called authorities and said it might be
Riley Ann Sawyers, as a result two people (mom and step dad) were identified,
tried, and convicted.

The Three Tramps: On the day JFK was assassinated (November 22, 1963), Lois
was able to compare photos from the crime scene to mug shots of apprehended
suspects to dismiss those who were innocent, and help confirm who the real
assassins were.

2. Joyce Conlon

Background
She has been working with the Prince Georges County Police since 2007 as a
crime sketch artist
Has a BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, an MA in Anthropology from University
of Massachusetts, and a MFA in Painting from Hartford Art School
Trained at the FBI Academy in Quantico

Helped solve a case in Prince Georges County where a man sexually assaulted and
robbed two women at gun point and then robbed three teenagers near a local high
school. Joyce Conlon produced a composite picture of the man which helped get
him arrested two months later .Colon spent four hours with each assault victim to

Detective sergeant with the Michigan State Police
Has been a forensic sketch artist with the department for 12+ years

Her father worked as a forensic sketch for MSP for 37 years, which sparked her
interest

Top Cases
A Canadian guy was found dead floating in Lake Erie. Krebs did facial
reconstruction on him, and after investigating online, she found his picture on a
website called the North American Missing Persons Network and was able to put
a name to the body
Developed a sketch of a man who assaulted three women in Saginaw, Michigan
based on the victims description. Three days after the sketch was published in the
media, police arrested a suspect.

4. Paul Moody

Background
Forensic artist for the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office
Says there is no such thing as the average looking guy
To help with memory description, he shows victims two thick FBI binders that
contain a range of mug shots showing different shapes/sizes of eyes, heads, noses,
ears, etc.
Although computers are available, he prefers the old fashioned way of paper and
pencil
Of the 57 Sketches Moody created in 2009, half the criminals or unidentified
people have been captured or identified

Top Cases
Francisco Cuevass skill, pieces of torso and shoulder, and left foot were founding
April 2008 in a rusty steel box in Palm West Beach Gardens. Moody created a
sketch of Cuevas based on his skull
Holly Marth sent Moody a photo of her sister who disappeared in 1981, Moody
was able to analyze the photo and match it with a skull (from a back room full of
human bones in the police department), confirming she had died and was no
longer missing

5. Marcia Cummings

Background:
Worked for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (for 34+ years) is
now retired
Minnesotas only full-time sketch artist
Victims who have worked with her say she has a knack of asking the right
questions and creating sketches that often look much like the suspect
In addiction to composite sketches, she does facial reconstruction from skills of
unidentified bodies (attempt to get public to recognize who they were

Often works with traumatized or younger victims
Keeps computerized records of the composite sketches she does, has worked on 5cases
BCA Senior Special Agent Gene Leatherman Jr. said that Cummings has a knack
for not only sketching faces but also for capturing the essence of the person-their
character
Uses a software program called Faces from IQ Biometrix as a tool in the process,
but the final composite is always sketched by hand

6. Barbara Martin Bailey

7. Stephen Mancusi

Background:
Mancusi is a professional artists and illustrator for over 30 years. He has
experience doing a variety of media including acrylics, digital graphics, oil, and
pastel on a wide range of subject matter for a diverse group of clients.
He started as a forensic artist in1984. He was the senior artist and first grade
detective in the New York City Police Department for almost 27 years.
He has conducted composite sketches with countless victims/witnesses for all
types of crimes. Some high-profile cases such as 9/11 WTC Terrorist Attack, The

Stuyvesant Town Serial Rapist and the Central Park Assault Case of a young
female pianist.
Developed forensic images for other law enforcement and governmental agencies
including FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, NYC Medical Examiners Office and U.S.
Postal inspections Service.
He actively teaches and lectures on forensic art throughout the country.

In Manhattan a serial rapist raped 5 women and they were sodomized at knife point.

8. Karen T. Taylor

Background:
Karen is from Fort Worth, Texas and at a young age she developed an early
aptitude for drawing and sculpting faces.
She attended the University of Texas School of Fine Arts and Chelsea School of
Fine Art in London.
She was a forensic art instructor for over twenty years at the FBI Academy in
Quanitico, Virginia.
Her primary expertise is forensic facial reconstruction
Since 1990, Taylor has been a contributor to Americas Most Wanted on FOX.
Taylor has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Court TV, the Discovery
Channel. The History Channel, Telemundo and the BBC.
CBS drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation created a forensic artist character
based on Taylor and her artwork which appeared on both New York and Las
Vegas shows.
Top cases:
Taylor created numerous reconstructions of unidentified murder victims. Three of her
famous works are April Lacy, Orange Socks, and the Walker County Jane Doe.

9. Daniel Town

Bio:

Town got his Bachelors degree in Forensic Studies/Political Science at the Indiana
University Bloomington (1976-1980).
When attending IUPD Police Academy, he worked as a Cadet and later sworn
officer his senior year.
Town has no formal training as an artist, but sketching faces is something hes
been doing his whole life.
He is currently a Crime Scene Detective and Sketch Artist at the Dallas Police
Department.
Town has been doing sketched for five years, which is only a fraction of the 33
years hes been a police officer.
He is sometimes called on to do drawings for suburban police departments that
dont have forensic artists.
He will spend hours with the victims working to put a composite together.

10. Dan Sollitti

Bio:

Dan completed his formal forensic art training under Mrs. Stewart-Park and her
husband, former F.B.I Visual Information Specialist Rick Parks.
Dan received training at the United States Secret Service Training Facility in
Maryland.
He has studied 3-Dimensional clay reconstructions of skulls under forensic
sculptor Seth Wolfson.
Dan donates his forensic art service to the Doe Network (www.doenwtwork.org)
the network is an international not for profit effort whose primary mission is the
identification human remains and long term missing person cold cases.
The Doe Networks Project EDAN (Everyone Deserves A Name) offers forensic

11. Tonya Newberry

Location: Boise, Idaho


Bio:
Tonya attended Boise State University as an Undergraduate.

Tonya Newberry has worked at the Boise Police Department for 14 years. She
investigates child abuse and sexual assault cases with the Special Victims Unit.
Growing up Newberry always loved art. Her grandmother was an artist. She did
many types of art including painting and ceramics.
She heard about sketch artist training near Coeur dAlene and a light bulb went
off in her head. So she started her training a little over 2 years ago.
Once she finishes her training in Coeur dAlene, shell be one of the only certified
sketch artists in the state of Idaho.

12. Harvey Pratt

Bio:

Pratt was born in El Reno, Oklahoma and in 1965 he began his career in forensic
art with Oklahomas Midwest City Police Department.
He completed his first composite drawing that resulted in an arrest and
conviction.
He joined the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation in 1972 as a narcotics
investigator and retired in 1992 as an Assistant Director.
Pratt is now employed with the agency as a full-time forensic specialist.

Pratt is a forensic art expert with over 42 years experience in law enforcement and
forensics.
His diverse background represents a fusion of extensive investigative experience
and authoritative knowledge or forensic art, always with a nod to his Native
American heritage.
Pratt developed the soft tissue postmortem drawing method- using this method the
forensic artist draws or paints on the photograph of a victim to repair tissue
damage or decomposition. The drawing repairs the trauma to the victim so that
they final image will be more presentable when asking for law enforcements or
the publics assistance in identification.

13. Sylvia Parker

Bio:

Sylvia has been working for the Seattle Police Department as an office and has
been drawing composites too.
She has a Fine Art background and worked as a freelance illustrator. It took her
about 4 years to get her foot in the door with her agency as far as composites.

She started out only doing composites but wants to do facial reconstructions and
post mortem drawings.
Has done a Sketch of a rapist from the memory of an 80 year olf woman and two
70 year olds.

14. Natalie Murry

Location Texas
Bio: Murry has a background in law enforcement for over ten years as a police officer
and dispatcher.
She trained and practiced as a forensic artist and worked as a patrol.
She attended the Forensic Facial Imaging class at the FBI Academy in Quantico Virginia
in 2001 and is a certified forensic artist with the International Association for
Identification.
For several years she did composites with victims and witnesses on cases in her
jurisdiction. She also worked with her county medical examiners office on
reconstructions and postmortem drawings.
Currently she is a freelance forensic artist working in Austin Texas and teachers digital

Bio:

Created a new interview technique, Compositure, through his knowledge of


memory fragility and eyewitness misidentification.
Honored in 2008 as Officer of the Year from Silicon Valley Crimes Stoppers.
Was part of the Real Beauty Sketches Campaign in 2013 done by Dove.
Completed over 3,000 sketch interviews.
Helped solve more than a thousand investigations with his composite sketches
Involved in the majority of every high profile criminal investigation in the Bay
Area.

Marla and Kelly
Lawson

Bio:

Marla is Georgias first police sketch artist


Would go all around the state of Georgia to draw rape suspects and robbers
She drew the composite sketch of Eric Robert Rudolph who set off a bomb in
Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996
summer games.

Marlas daughter, Kelly, replaced her mother after she retired at the age of 63.
Both have identical styles.

Bio:

American Pioneer for forensic art and forensic facial reconstruction


Reconstructed the faces of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, President John F Kennedy, and
unidentified victims of serial killer John Wayne Gacy
