Personal Dashboard

Here is my week 6 individual assignment involving a personal dashboard. This

assignment was very difficult for me because I have not dealt with dashboard or have seen them
before. I was probably making the assignment harder than it needed to be, especially since I
couldnt find a good way to create one so I created one on Microsoft Word. Regardless, I had a
good understanding when applying dashboards to organizations but had a difficult time creating
a personal dashboard. This is because organizations have numbers, statistics, financial
information, long histories, etc. and use them in their dashboards. The difficulty I had was
locating KPIs personally. However, using my personal goals, I was able to locate a lot more
KPIs then I had originally thought were possible. My personal KPIs include: my bachelors
degree, the pursuit of my masters degree, U.S. secondary education statistics, job lookout for a
real estate agent, debt compared to my income, and my monthly budget.
First, my educational background is leading me in a positive direction to achieve my
goals. I am a first generation college student and achieving my bachelors degree was a big deal
to my family and myself. I earned my degree in business administration and concentrated in
entrepreneurship and marketing. After my graduation in May of 2015, I was offered the graduate
assistant position for Siena Heights University. Through this position, I am able to pursue my
masters degree while coaching the baseball team for Siena Heights. Because I am a first
generation college student, it feels good knowing that I am setting the bar high for future
generations of my family. Hopefully by December, 2016, I will be preparing to graduate with a
masters degree in organizational leadership. Once I am able to accomplish that feat, I will be a
part of the nine percent of Americans with a masters degree. Because of my educational
background, I am educated enough to pursue my future goals with my career and my life. This is

why I chose my educational background to represent a large majority of my KPIs because it is

definitely a strong suit of mine and will give me a direct competitive advantage over 91 percent
of Americans when applying for a job.
As mentioned in previous discussion posts, I would like to become a real estate agent in
my future. Because of this, I conducted research on the job outlook to see what type of
competition I may have, how the industry is looking, and how many jobs are expected to open up
in order to keep an open mind about my goals. With just over 400,000 real estate jobs in the
United States, real estate agents operate in an average industry. The job outlook is supposed to
increase seven percent in the next 10 years, which is a little below average. I thought this would
be a good KPI because it allows me to take a look at my goal and try to figure out how I could be
a part of the seven percent job increase in the next 10 years. As of right now, I am behind, but
that will start to change by this time next year.
Finally, my last two KPIs involve my finances, which are extremely alarming. As
assumed, I have taken on debt from college loans as an undergraduate. As of now, I am in the
hole $26,000, which if you ask me it isnt that bad for attending a four-year university. However,
my loans have been deferred because I am currently involved in graduate college so for the next
year or so, my loan debt will stay mostly consistent. It would be nice to start making loan
payments with any extra money I may have available but my budget has other plans. Being a
graduate assistant, we do not get paid well. It is enough money to survive month to month but it
is not enough if I plan on saving any money. One of my goals is to pay off my student loans
before the 10-year deadline. Although the time has not begun for my deadline, I am falling short
of reaching that goal as of now. Because of these last two KPIs, I was able to analyze my

financial situation and seek ways to seek more income whether that be hitting lessons, working
baseball camps, and even going to my hometown to work a second job over the summer.
