A snow falls down to the ground heavily as Lucy looks out at the
window.
Puke Puke Lucy vomits. What happens to me? She thought. Is it
a sign of being pregnancy? No, no please do not happen at this time. I am
not ready to have a baby yet.
Lucy goes to the hospital by train which are crowded by many
people in country side. Many people want to move out and find work in
the city, she thought. Lucy watches a few mother holding their kids hand
during the route, they talk to each other, smile, and have some jokes. It is
cutest thing ever, she grins.
Lucy walks through the center of the hospital. She thought that it
will be fine after she sees a doctor.
Congratulation, Madam. You are pregnant about 2 months. Do your
husband come with you, sir? asked the doctor.
She is silent and shakes her head to the doctor.
Anyway, I recommend you to take care of yourself during this time
said doctor. Because you will become a mother soon.
Thank you. she answered.
Robert looks at the screen on television in the barbershop that pops
up some announcement abruptly.

which all of you must follow. Germany will become prominent and conquer
many countries in the world. The government agency announces news.

I am so bored of this guy, said customer in barber shop. He

always dream about an impossible future of Germany The customer
closes his eyes to sleep and ignores the television program.
All men in family need to be involved in a world war to protect our
nation and gain more power to be proud of, continued the agent. We are
struggling with the war for a long time in wasting soldiers, weapons, and
money. In the present, Germany has some disagreements with France and
it leads to the war again. Therefore, we have to get up and defeat them to

The channel turned back to be normal as if nothing happened.
Gossiping is louder and louder.
Hey, Robert. Are you listening to me? Said the regular customer.
Sorry sir, what did you say? Robert asked.
He laughs when Robert concentrates at the news. Well agency
does a great job in having a speech, he said. Everyone focus at him on
the TV but I think its not fair for us to join an enormous war. Do you think

government is going to do. Frowned Robert while he cuts the customers
hair smoothly.
By the way, I have to send money back to my family that I have
already earned for a job.

you love your family, you have to protect them by joining the world war.

Lucy, Lucy wake up! Turn on the television now. Lucys mother
opens the door and picks a remote on the top of the TV.
All men in family must involve in the war. Lucy points on the main
idea. I couldnt believe my eyes that was exactly happening, she thought
Poor Lucy. You are far gone in pregnancy. What are you going to do
next? Lucys mother asked.
I have no idea. I wish Robert stay here beside me and not go
anywhere. So, I will go to see him in the city. Lucy says with a hastily.
The Barbershop in front of me is where my husband actually
worked, considered Lucy.
What? It is closed. Are there anyone inside? She shouts and tries
to open the door. Does Robert go to the war already? I dont think so.
Lucy comes back home with her sadness. I thought we would see
and talk together, but we arent, murmured Lucy.
Lucy, Robert was here and left a letter for you five days ago. Her
mother brings out a note from her pocket.
Does he return back home now? Lucy goes upstairs seeking for
Robert straightaway. Why didnt you tell me mom?
No, listen! He is gone. He came back only to left money that he
earned by jobs and ready to go to the war. I have no way to tell you then,
open a card before its too late, Mother warned.
I promised you to come back after I gain an income in the city, I
only saw your mother in the house, Lucy started to read a message

slowly from her husband. However, I have to fight for our country and you,
my darling. Yet, trust me, Ill be come back soon after the war ended.
I hope you will meet our child someday, sighed Lucy.
The wind is blowing around Lucys body when she comes outside of
the house. Did you remember when we married? You engaged me that
we will take care of a child together if we have one. I miss you so much.
Oh goodness, please save his life she prayed.
Tomorrow, its time to give birth or you might lose your husband at
the same time Lucys mother said. Lucy turns around and pretends that
she doesnt hear anything.
Doctor, help Lucys hands hold her friend ones tightly and scream
out loud.
Mission completed said doctor. You got a boy, sir
Wow, glad to you Miss Lucy Excited Mary. He looks like his father
so much. I can feel it. Mary receives a baby in her hand and sway around
carefully.
Cutie boy, said Mary to a baby.
Mary, I feel tried and exhausted. Lucy whispered.
Along the route, many soldiers carry their personal staffs in the train
and prepare themselves to fight with a rival.
Hey, excuse me. Where are we now? Robert asked one of the
soldiers.
I think we are on the way to go fight with France, Henry answered.
I still wonder if we would be alive after this war ended. I dont have any
skills to fight

We would, Robert responded. If we cooperate together in a team,

we will win.
Bomb! Bomb!
Hey, everyone flees from an explosion of the cannon. Find your
own place to stay ordered by the commander.
Bang! Bang! The gunfire is shut loudly.
Listen, Dont be frightened, we have to fight until we die. If we do
not win, then you cannot go back your own nation to brag anything.
Robert runs away from people and escape a bullet as fast as
possible. He sees many soldiers are killing each other. Some are pierced
by a sword. If I continue fighting, I shall die by them for sure. It is
impossible to be survive, thought Robert.
Robert stumbled at a big rock and got shot by French army.
Oh! Help! I got wound.
It hurts. Somebody help me! I cant get up now! He falls down on
the ground with a dirty mud around him. My body cant be able to move
anywhere, he thought. He tried hard to stand up to fight again, but it
doesnt make any better. If this is last time to stay, I want to say, Lucy,
forgive me for breaking our promises.
Lucy slept for a month. Her son also doesnt have a milk from her.
Said Mary to Lucys mother.
Mary, Mary called Lucy softly.
Hey, you were sleeping so long. I thought you were dying Mary
turns to her.
How about my son? Is he alright?

He is quite well over here Mary answered.

that you will not be panic after hear it.

troops and weapons to fight with others. Here is the point, Mary stopped

All the soldiers died from the war.
What? Impossible Lucy shouts out loud.
I cant believe it. No no, its not true cried Lucy. He promised me
that he will come back home. How about my son? How does he going to
live without his father? Oh dear, people will blame him for sure. He leaves
me and abandons our memories. The tears drop down on Lucys face.
I dont want to live in this world anymore. She runs hastily to the
shelf in the kitchen and find a piece of knife above her head.
I will go with you, my dear. Please wait for me Lucy holds a knife
in front of her heart.
Mary follows her inside the room and pulls her body away quickly
from a knife.
Lucy, you must have your wits with you. You only lose the one you
love, but you also have the one whom you should take care until the rest
of your life Said Mary.

But my son needs a father, you know. I cant take the whole
responsibility to work and foster a baby at the same time. It isnt fair. Why
do I have to deal with all these problems alone. Lucy cries out and grasps
a knife on the table tightly again.
It will make you strong in the future, trust me

Life isnt fair at all. Lucy puts a knife down on the table and
embraces her baby with the tears around her face.
