As a business adviser, i've watched Rachel mature into an outgoing, dependable leader. She has a strong work ethic, determination to see a project through to the end. As only a sophomore, she developed the idea of hosting a "Hoops for Hope" event.

It is my privilege to recommend Rachel Hovey for the America level of the Business Achievement Awards. As her FBLA adviser, it has been a pleasure to watch her mature into an outgoing, dependable leader who continues to work incredibly hard. She encapsulates all of the qualities that a person thinks of when defining the words, success and leader. Rachel has a strong work ethic, the determination to see a project through to the end, and the initiative to dive into whatever needs to be done. She sees no task as too big or too small. Rachel has taken almost every business class that I offer and has excelled in all of them. She has an inherent desire to learn and to succeed. That desire pushes her to always go the extra mile. She is a very independent worker who only seeks help when absolutely necessary. Outside of the classroom, Rachel consistently displays the characteristics of leadership, dependability, and service. For the past two years, she has been the president of our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter. In this capacity, she has been responsible for organizing all FBLA events and meetings. As only a sophomore, Rachel developed the idea of hosting a Hoops for Hope event at a basketball game to raise money for the American Cancer Society, which has now become an annual event. She has also started a Relay for Life team at our school. Because of her tireless dedication, our chapter has been able to donate nearly $6,000 to the American Cancer Society over the past three years. Intrinsic motivation is what is behind Rachels community service, with no expectation of recognition or extrinsic rewards. As the district newsletter editor for the past three years, Rachel has been responsible for producing the monthly newsletter that is distributed to all residents in the school district. She sets and meets all deadlines, gathers information, writes articles, and completes the layout. She accomplishes all of this during her own time with very little guidance from me. Last year, even before she assumed the role of yearbook editor, Rachel attended all spring activities in order to take pictures for this years book. She accomplishes all of these things with no fanfare, and she makes her accomplishments look effortless. Both in and out of the classroom, Rachel demonstrates to our entire school and community the drive, determination, integrity, and knowledge that it takes to be a successful person. She has accomplished a great deal during her high school years, and I am looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for her.
