TASKS
Business Proposal
You must devise a proposal for your enterprise, that shows an understanding of: the
structures of businesses in the arts; the roles and responsibilities of sole traders,
partners and directors; how small businesses inter-relate with other businesses,
large and small; and the importance of small businesses to the arts sector. Evaluate
your own enterprise skills and determine your role within the proposed business.
Identifying Funding and Support
Research appropriate sources of funding for your proposed business needs, and
evaluate sources of funding for new small business enterprises. Prepare to reach out
to various organisations which may support small business enterprises in the arts
sector, and evaluate the support which these organisations might provide
Keeping Books
Set up systems for the recording of financial transactions, and calculate likely
liabilities in respect of tax, NI and VAT.
Managing A Business
Evaluate the success of the enterprise. Consider the any problems you may have
encountered along the way. Use reflection to: explain the demands likely to be
made of small business proprietors in the arts sector; evaluate the potential impact
of identified external factors on small business development; evaluate business
plans relevant to small businesses in the arts.
