Answer:
The topic I am choosing is abortion. Out of all of the subjects listed above, abortion is
the most talked about and debated subject. More than half of the United States have
illegalized abortion since the Roe vs. Wade case. I believe that abortion should be
illegal unless they have evidence that the woman was raped. There is only one state,
that the only exception of having an abortion is rape. I believe that rape should be the
only exception. A lot of people believe that it should be the womans choice. But if a
woman doesnt want to have a baby in the first place, she should be smart with the way
she has sex. If she wants 100% guarantee of not having a kid, she just needs to decide
to not have sex until she is ready to create a living fetus. There are other options of
decreasing the chance of having a baby, condoms, birth control. I think a big cause of
unplanned pregnancy, is not being well educated about sex education in high school.
School districts should require students to take sex education in order to graduate.
Rates of Abortion The United States has one of the highest abortion rates in the
developed world. Each year, 21 out of every 1,000 women of reproductive age have an
abortion. (Crooks and Baur, 2014, pg 321) If you believe strictly in the Constitution, the
13th amendment states: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and
subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State
wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the
privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any
person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person
within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. The woman should have the right
to make her own choice of what she wants to do with her body. I do believe that, but

when it comes to abortion, the woman should always keep the baby. Aborting a baby is
murder. It is taking away a life of a child that has potential of doing a lot of great things
in life. At least have the baby and put it up for adoption. Abortion will always be debated,
and everyone will always have opinions on it. My opinion is that abortion should be
ILLEGAL.
