SECTION 2 - CABLE INSTALLATION RIC_CABLES ALL cables to be approved by the Classification Society and Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and of 0.6/1kV or 250V grade insulation to meet the voltage to which they are subjected The cables application to be as follows: In general, cables in all spaces, except otherwise specified, to be of ethylene propylene rubber insulated, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheathed and steel wire braided (PYC) with under mentioned exceptions. Cables in refrigerating provision stores and weather exposed-spaces except where their lengths are within about 1 meter to be with outer polyvinyl chloride (PVC) covering. Cables installed in high temperature spaces where ambient temperature exceeds 70°C to be insulated with silicon rubber, sheathed with lead and braided with steel’ wire, Cables which will be affected by any noise to be sealed with transducer chloride, Special cables such as coaxial cables, compensating cables, shielded cables, fire resisting cables, etc. to be used where necessary. Kind, size, etc. of cables supplied by manufacturers together with electric equipments to be in accordance with the manufacturers’ standards i] CABLE INSTALLATIONS Ingeneral, cables running in groups to be supported with netal hangers and bunched with tubular bands as far as practicable and are so arranged as to permit painting of the surrounding structure without undue disturbance ‘The cables, exposed to any mechanical danage, to be protected with steel plates, steel conduits or flexible tubes (plica tube)in accordance with the Builder's practice. Cables between deck house and upper deck fore part to be wired inside galvanized steel pipes (SGP) led on upper deck with pipe expansion joints (dresser type) and cable expansion boxes with drain holes. ALL cables passing through weather decks or watertight bulkheads to be provided with watertight glands, deck tubes or coamings filled up with special compounds and the cables passing through other decks to be provided wi th deck tubes or coamings in accordance with the Builder's practice. Wiring throughout the vessel shall be carefully arranged to eliminate fire risks. In principle, in living quarters, the cables to be fitted inside the wood casings or walls as far as possible for cabins and places where joiner linings to be carried out. ‘Type and material of cable bands to be in accordance with the Builder’s practice. Cables to be fixed to the hanger by the binding tapes of galvanized steel or equivalent with suitable Lining for cables in the machinery spaces, accommodation spaces and store spaces, and by the binding tapes of stainless steel with suitable Lining for cables exposed to weather. ALI cables to be so installed that they are not subject to tension or chafing due to the working of the ship’s structure. Cable runs to be laid on accessible position for easy maintenance. Attention to be so paid that the cable runs should not be exposed to water, oil, oily vapor, steam or excessive high temperature. Main generator sets to be able to run in parallel ‘The voltage regulation of the main generators to be maintained in the range of 2.5% of rated voltage between zero to full load under steady condition of rated power factor. Maximum voltage change not to exceed 15% when a current equal to 80% of the full load current at power factor between zero and 0.4 lagging is suddenly drawn. The voltage to be restored to within 3% of the rated voltage in not more than 0.5 second. Governor Motors ‘The governor motors to be electrically operated and controlled from the main switchboard. When main source fails, the energency generator to be automatically started and ACB automatically closed within 45 seconds. ‘when main source recovered, disconnection of the ACB, connection of bus-tie breaker i.e. conection of emergency loads to main source, and stop of engine to be carried out by hand. 3.2.3 Characteristics The voltage regulation of the esergency generator to be maintained in the range of 3.5% of rated voltage between zero to full load under steady condition of rated power factor. SLL 5.14 E SECTION 5 - SWITCHBOARDS Constructions and Installations ‘The switchboards to be of dead front and self standing type and to be made of steel frame work, ‘The switchboard to be provided with storm rails on both front and rear of the main switchboard. Movable type drip-proof covers to be provided on the rear face of the main switchboard. Neters Meters mounted on the front panel of the switchboands to be of the seni-flush type with accuracy of 1.5 class according to JIS C1102. Generator Air Circuit Breakers ‘The air circuit breakers for main generators to have long time over current. trip, instantaneous trip, short time delay trip, under voltage trip and reverse power trip. Bach air circuit breaker to be provided with interrupting capacity against short circuit current, and to be of motor drive operation. Fixed type air circuit breakers to be adopted for main generators and the disconnecting switches to be provided. ‘The air circuit breaker for energency generator to have long time over current trip, instantaneous trip, short tire delay trip and hand drive operation. Feeder Circuit Breakers Molded case circuit breakers with inverse time thermal trip and instantaneous magnetic trip features to be provided for AC440V and ACIOOV outgoing circuits.
