Gender Stratification in our life

One day in 2013 when I used to work for a company, the management
asked us to choose a lead for our team. We chose a person who had the
ability to lead, good experience, everybody liked him, and he could solve any
problem. When our manager had originally asked us he forget to tell us that
they have conditions for that person and we didnt know until they refused
the guy that we had chosen. So we asked why he was being refused. The
managers said he is a good choice but our company is encouraging women
leadership because all the supervisors were men. We were surprised by that
decision because the women in our team didnt have good experience for
that work and they dont have the same ability to solve problems. That
choice caused a lot of problems in our team with some of the employees
quitting because they were disappointed. When they were not promoted in
this company, but the management didnt care. They participated in a
program that supported women leadership saying that it will make some
benefits to the company, but that was not enough to convince me or the
majority of the team especially after the problem which had happened

because of bad administration due from that new leader who was not
qualified.
I start with this story because I want to talk about that claim of supporting
women to doing roles in society in this kind of ways. I am against that. If the
character in the story was a man but he still doesnt have the materials
which make him a leader, he should not be a leader. If we want to choose
somebody to hold a heavy weight, we should choose who has the ability to
hold that weight, not a man or woman who cant hold it. If we want to choose
somebody to direct you to save people, you will ask the person who has that
experience. It doesnt matter what the gender is. If you want your staff to do
well you should choose those who will do well in that position, but nowadays
because of the claims and programs that support special categories of
people, we see some people in the wrong place.
A lot of criteria seems to be to promote people without looking at their
ability or their experiences, but rather the priority is on something else like
their gender. Its like when our choice depends on the color or the race or the
relations or the religion. These are all types of discrimination in different
shapes.
The object about gender comes in two opinions. The first opinion is
focusing on what we can do to help women to perform a bigger role in
society and supporting them to get a higher education. Another opinion is
against that and those say that supporting women leads to focusing on one

side but neglecting the other side which creates another problem even
bigger than the first one. A lot of young males do not find good opportunities
to get a good education. Men need support to get higher education as well.
The author, Saul Kaplan in the article, Plight of Young Males, said at
the Business Innovation Factory, our team has been working with the College
Board when they explore the experience of young men of color in the U.S.
The statistics are staggering. Only 26% of African American, 18% of Latino
American, and 24% of Native American and Pacific Islander young men ages
24-34 have attained at least an Associates Degree
In another hand, it claims to help women and talks about her weak role in
society. Still many writers argue about big obstacles that stand against
womens roles in society.

For example, Ellen Ellman discusses gender

inequities, reminding us that women in her field are underrepresented and

held to higher standards than their male counterparts. They say women are
suffering injustice. They have a lot of statistics and studies and the authors
who adopt this theory have done a good effect. A lot of organizations hold
their ideas and make many achievements in this field and their claims help
women. When I read something about this kind of speech I feel like I am
reading seventeenth-century propaganda like in the old cultures around the
world in the past. Women were born to serve their fathers as young girls then
serve their husbands when they got married, and then their grown sons
when they were older and women should be quiet, obey the man and submit
to her husbands, and raise sons and daughters. That is in the past and there

Aedan4

is no more of this old culture in countries like the United States. When we try
to point out problems we should do it in the right way. If the statistics alarm
women because she doesnt have enough representation in the government
or in the same kind of work as men, it does not mean we have
discrimination. The discrimination between men and women is gone.
In the Capitalist countries, the criteria are for the benefits and how much
the company will earn from the employee, not what is the gender of the
employee. Its a good thing if we encourage and motivate both women and
men to do a better role in our lives, but that does not mean in specialized
kind of work or making a quota. Equality means being equal in privileges and
duties under the criterion of the persons ability and achievements.
A lot of women have become important figures around the world without
any organizations to support them or governments or any newspapers to
declare on their suffering. They were just able to improve their presence in
front of the world. Those women were distinguished and smart enough to be
on that level.
Now in the United States when we are looking for a job, they cant refuse
your application because you are a man or a woman. I agree that sometimes
they may ask you if you are a woman and you go to do hard work like
carrying heavy things if you can do it and if you said yes they should accept
you. You will be under training and if you can do it, you will stay in the work,
and if a man applies for the same work and he cannot do it, he will lose the

opportunity to work in the same position. Woman like Hillary Clinton shave
the leaders charisma and intelligence, the way of her talking, expertise,
professionalisms, she makes her character without any organization to
support the woman, also

Angela Merkel the chancellor of Germany, and a

lot of women the make their path without any help, and they still woman,
mother of kids like any woman else These women are extraordinary role
models. If I had a daughter, I would encourage her to look to them, and I
want a world in which they are extraordinary but not unusual.
When we see the rates of education of women or men in the universities,
it isnt because of a gender problem. It may be an economic situation. It may
be some bad or good model of the youth following him. It may be because of
the way those people were raised at home. In all those ways, we should
figure out what is going on .
