A. For my topic I have chosen modern sport hunting in America and if the practices
commonly associated with modern sport hunting still follow the fair chase guidelines set
up by the Boone and Crockett Clubs guidelines. These guidelines set ethical hunting
standards for the United States which most North American hunters follow. The modern
sport hunting practices I want to illuminate are canned hunts and the ranch system in
southwestern states. Additionally, I want to further compare them to other states and their
laws. The title of my paper is Sport Hunting Today. The main aspects that will drive my
research is my background with sport hunting. It will offer a great starting point into the
realm of hunting, so I can have a better understanding of the laws and codes. I believe my
best option will to put on a presentation about hunting in America. I will talk about the
history of hunting in our country, its evolution in our society, and modern conservation. I
will arrange to have a guest speaker, either a game warden or somebody from the Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Another possibility is to link up with the
Hunters Safety Classes put on around Virginia Beach. That way I can use a variety of
their displays and information so students and teachers dont have to sit through the 10
hour class it normally is. Having the speaker from one of those outlets will allow a first
person view from many of the conservation efforts created by our government. My
audience for this will be my classmates and others from First Colonial. I would like to

E. I think this an appropriate project for me because I have been hunting since I was 7 and
hunting has been a great part of me since that day. I have learned many things through
this outlet and it has changed my life. I want to do this because I would like to teach those
who are other wised opposed to hunting about the sport, its history, and how it is not a
mistreatment of animals. I think the most challenging part of this will project will be
staying away from being biased because of the amount of time I have spent hunting and
the love I have for the sport, but I can be objective. My public speaking skills and prior
experience of my topic will allow this project to be executed very well.

F. My paper links to my project because my paper is examining hunting and sport hunting
laws. The project I intend to put on is a hunter safety style class and in that class I teach
the dos and donts of hunting. I will teach and illuminate the same laws I will be writing
about in my paper. I will elaborate on the forms and hunting techniques I am writing
about.
G. Academic honesty is going through processes in school without cheating and only using
approved resources to aid you. Plagiarism is when someone steals intellectual material
from another and claims it as their own without citing the source. I am fully aware of the
consequences I am academically dishonest and plagiarize. I will maintain a high level of
integrity throughout this process.
I understand that any academic dishonesty by me on any part of the project will result in
failure of the Senior Project and forfeiture of the Legal Studies Seal on my High School
diploma.
