The text
Exactly one year ago, I joined the Daily Mail to write a Saturday advice column and this
desperate letter was to my page.

Dear Bel Mooney

My daddy left home when I was 2 so I don't know him. We lived with Dave who is nice and his 2 children
Rosie and Tom.
I liked to have a sister, we shared a room, and a brother who is 5. Now mummy says we are moving away
to another house and I wont see them.
I will be at a new school and wont know anyone, I am very sad. Dave says it is up to mummy to say I can
see them but she says no.
I do not like where we will live, I want to see Rosie but she wont be in my class so I wont see her. I liked
having a bedroom with her and I knew Tom from when he was 2.
I am very sad but Mummy is cross and says she doesn't like Dave any more but I still do because he was
nice and as good as a daddy.
Mum wont come to sport day at school like he did. She works and I have to get a key and be home until
she is home.
Can you make her let me see Dave and Rosie and Tom sometimes even if she wont see them?
Rosie says she and Tom cry and so does Dave and he is grown up.

Love from
Gemma x

Quarrelling with your teen doesn't necessarily mean you have a bad relationship. The quality of a

express a range of feelings - happiness (as well as inspite of due to)(3) their unhappiness. Some
parents and teens who engage in (frequently frequent frequency)(4) arguments have, by these
measures, a good relationship: what matters is that a quarrel (hasnt ended - doesn't end
