Designing Displays
Display Title: English
Description and Photo

This display shows many things related to English subject. It includes: vocabulary, H .F.W, writing, story,
which help children to use it in the class.
Vocabulary section includes vocabulary cards with the picture it helps children to memorize the
words also, it help children to know how write it also, it help children to use it in the sentences.
High frequency words section includes some H.F.W cards it help children to memorize it also, the
children can use it in English class.
Writing section includes how the children write for example, in writing lesson the children will see
this section to know how they can start. Its give children idea for writing.
Story section includes the event of the story it help children to know the event and memorize it.
Criteria to be discussed with each teacher:
Is childrens work the primary focus of the display?
No, its only shows teachers work, it show the subjects that children learn in English.
Describe the layout of the display
The teacher used different colors to made the display because she think that attract children to see it also
she organize the display by using section for each thing in it because it help children to know how they
can read it and whats linked together. The font of some word is clear and big, but some words are not
clears and the children cant if they far away.
Discuss the location of the display
This display is located in 2A class.

How was the work selected for the display?


The teacher selected the work from the card lesson and some picture from the storybook.
How interactive is the display?
This display is affective in the class because the children look at if the teacher ask them about the
vocabulary words to get the answer from the display also, when the teacher ask them about the story the
children start to see the display to answer it.
Other comments
The teacher change the display every weeks depended to the lesson that they learned, she remove the old
vocabulary to put a new vocabulary in it and she change the design.

Designing Displays
Display Title: Math
Description and Photo

This display shows many things related to Math subject. It includes: addition, subtraction, numbers, which
help children to use it in the class.
Addition section includes some addition words and the sign of addition, it help children to know
and memorize it if they see it in another place.
Subtraction section includes some subtraction words and the sign of it. Children can use it in the
class also, it give children chance to participate in the class because they will know the answer.
Numbers section includes number board that help children to use it in the Math class or even in
another subject.
Criteria to be discussed with each teacher:
Is childrens work the primary focus of the display?
No, its only shows teachers work, it show the subjects that children learn in Math.
Describe the layout of the display
The teacher used different colors to made the display that can attract children to see it also she organize
the display by using cards shows the words and pictures show the sign. Also, the font is clear for children
and she used comfortable color for children.

This display is located in 2A class.
How was the work selected for the display?
The teacher selected the work from the lesson.
How interactive is the display?
This display is affective in the class because the children look at if the teacher ask them to count from 1 to
100 also if they read a new words for addition or subtraction they start to look at the display to know what
is it. Its useful for math class, but also it not interactive because its only teachers word I suggest to
include childrens work in it because the children will learn better if they see their work and what they
done.
Other comments
This display dont change even of the teacher finish the lesson because she think the children want to
know it every time.

Reflection Questions
What do you think should be reflected in displays? Should it be the
teachers work or students? Why?
I think to must be both of them because both of them are
important for the class environment.
The teacher work to design the display and choose the color
and materials to make it.
The children work shows if the children understand or not
Why is it important to include the childrens work on the display?
Because it shows if the children know the subject or not also,
it gives children chance to show what they can do also, it show
children that their work is important also, the children will feel
happy and proud when they see their work in the wall.
Are displays important teaching tools? Why ?
Yes, because its make comfortable environment for children in
the class also the children can use it during the class time
also, it help them memorize what they learned.
List some things you think the teacher should take into account when
making displays?
1. its must be clear and simple
2. its must be interactive
3. comfortable color
4. location of the display ( put in the place that children see
it )
5. it might be include childrens work

Write a paragraph discussing the following statement:


Effective classroom displays are the most powerful and
overlooked tools for teaching. (Clayton, 2001)
I agree with this statement because I think the display is very important thing in the
class because it show what children know about the lesson and give children chance to
create and share with the class.

In my TP I observed the teacher changes the display depended to the lesson, she
changes every weeks for example, I saw her when she change the English display, she
remove the vocabulary words and put the new vocabulary for the week.

Brief Description and photo (What does display show?)

This display shows the abbreviation, it was group work I did with them during the English lesson, each bear it
childrens work. I designed to give children chance to show me what they understand. I chose comfortable color
to make it.
Rationale (Why do this display?)
Because I think the children need to know abbreviation because when I teach them I observed some children
dont sure if they understand how write the abbreviation, I did this display to give them chance to memorize the
abbreviation and when they can use it. Also, I think the children like it because it related to cartoon.

Resources needed
1. Letter ( to write the title)
2. 4 Bears ( for activity)
3. Color ( to color the board + to color the bears)
4. Colored paper ( to design the display)

5. 8 Googly eyes ( to make the eyes of bears)


6. Marker ( to draw the mouth and nose)
7. Pencil ( to do the activity)

Step by step Plan (How)


1. Bring the materials to design the display.
2. Cut the colored papers to make the board.
3. Stick the colored papers in the board.
4. Give children the activity to do it.
5. Stick the activity in the display.
Timeline (When)
1. First week discuss with the teacher to choose the subject of the display.
2. Second week do the plan of the display.
3. Third week design the display.
4. Last week give children the activity to do it and stick in the wall.
Other
I think if the teacher give me a big space I can better and different things also, I prepared some activity to put in
the display ,but the teacher said she didnt enough time to do it because that I remove it.
