Dear Stephanie Welch:
My name is Elizabeth Soule, and I am writing to convey my interest in the assistant
teacher position at Cape Cod Child Developments West Yarmouth center. I am seasonally
employed as a floating substitute teacher in this center, and have spent time working in each
classroom in the center. Ive found the experience enriching and enjoyable, and feel a strong
connection not only with fellow staff members at the center, but with Cape Cod Child
Developments teaching philosophy as well. I am highly devoted to the centers mission of
ensuring quality care and educational experiences for children. Through becoming an assistant
teacher at this center, I believe I can help contribute toward it.
Much of my educational experience comes in the form of teaching within highly diverse
preschool classrooms. At The Childrens College, I frequently taught in small groups or in a oneon-one capacity in order to more accurately meet my students needs. I regularly assisted in
clarifying communication, easing transitions and addressing behavioral, social and emotional
needs. On a personal level, I am devoted to forging close connections with all of my students. I
believe that my experiences and dedication serve to make me an excellent candidate for this
position. I am well-prepared to provide any support necessary to the students of Cape Cod Child
Development so that they can reach their educational potential.
My previous employment gave me hands-on experience working one-on-one with
children with special needs. Toward the beginning of my second year of teaching at The
Childrens College, a young boy transferred into the school. When he first arrived, he had limited
expressive communication skills and had difficulty during transitions and social activities. I
worked with him extensively as a one-on-one. I learned what coping skills worked for him. I also
made sure that he had previews of transitions. With regards to his speech, I used retell to help
him extend his vocabulary and strengthen his pronunciation. I worked on his social development
by modeling playing alongside him appropriately. Within the span of a year, this child began to
speak in complete sentences, engaged in cooperative play, and showed great emotional stability.
In summary, Im a passionate educator with the experience and know-how to turn my
passion into reality. More importantly, I have the skills needed to assist your students in growing
into their best selves. I am excited to help Cape Cod Child Development in providing highquality education that meets the developmental needs of it students. I hope that you consider me
for the assistant teacher position at your center. I look forward to setting up an interview.
Signed,
Elizabeth Soule
