Developmental Procedures
1. Students will be given their appropriate handouts in regards to their impairments and
differentiation of instruction. The teacher will set up the PowerPoint.
2. Teacher will briefly reinforce what a noun is. (Can you tell me what is a noun is)?
(Monitor to Gauge Progress- Direct Instruction)
3. Students will view a PowerPoint about adjectives and they will be provided a fill in
the blank handout to follow along with. (What is an adjective?) (Can you think of
adjectives?) (Present New Content- Direct Instruction)
4. The teacher will then call on a few students to test their knowledge of adjectives. She
will ask them to think of adjectives that describe them. (How would you describe
yourself?)
5. The teacher will model an example. The teacher will say, My name is Ms. Infantino
and I describe myself as funny. (Modeling- Direct Instruction)
6. Students will take out the picture of themselves that they were told to bring in. Once
they take that picture out, the students will glue the picture on the paper on the blue
box.
7. Students will then complete the handout Describe Me. When the students finish the
handout each student will discuss the assignment with their classmates (Think. Pair.
Share.) (Discussion- Indirect Instruction)
8. Teacher will walk around the room and evaluate the students as they are discussing
their responses.
9. Once the Describe Me assignment is completed, there will be one brown lunch bag
placed on each students desk. Inside the brown bag will be three different objects.
The students must identify the object and list five adjectives that describe them. (Can
anyone tell me what an adjective is?) (Are there any questions?)
10. The teacher will walk around the room and help the students if they need it.
11. Students should be prepared to share one object and the adjectives they choose to the
class.
12. The teacher will model how the students should respond. The student will say I In
my bag, I had a toy car and it is red.
13. The teacher will hand out Adjective Picture Challenge and should be completed for
homework. (Any questions about the homework?)
