The first thing springing into mind about Andalusias main capital, Seville, is perhaps the

song about it Sevilla tiene un color especial by Los del Rio. Its translated as Seville
has its own special color.
I couldnt agree more. Seville has a very special ambient, the feel of a big city as it
offers museums, nightclubs and many (tapas) bars, and simultaneously that of a small
town due to the friendliness of folk.
Its many historic features, the river Guadalquivir running through it, its spectacular sunset
behind the Giralda, its mysterious Moorish influences: they all form part of this
magnificent city. Seville is great to visit for one day, but one could easily linger and
explore more than merely the main attractions and extend this visit over the course of
several days. If you speak some Spanish, try to mingle in the crowd on Salvador square,
where you will find many folk, young and old, taking a cervecita (small beer).

Most of the bars are open all day, so its easy to sit down and rest for a while. Although
cold tapas is usually served throughout the entire day, most bars will serve hot food
according to Spanish eating times (approx. 14.00-16.00 and 21.00 23.00) which might
vary during high seasons. In the oldest neighborhood el Casco Antiguo, you will find
Alczar palace and its magnificent gardens located at a stones throw from the
Giralda and the Cathedral of Seville, making it ideal to meander historic times and let
yourself get swept away by the beauty of its architecture.
And not to forget Triana, the neighborhood across from the Guadalquivir, almost a
small town in itself with many small streets, beautiful patios and a booming nightlife on
the river front, provides a spectacular view towards the main city. Plaza de Espaa
(Spanish square), another impressive landmark with Moorish influences can be found in
the Parque de Mara Luisa and is definitely a site not to be missed. This enormous
square was used for the films Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones.
