Behavior Contingency Plan (BCP):

Plan Title_ Passion to Learn__Name _Gail B. Sylvester-Conrad_______ID# ___22

Undesirable Behavior Targeted:
The undesirable behavior is the students excessive use of cell phones during mathematics class time. This technology
violation is disruptive to the learning process as students are not focused on the teachers instruction hence missing
pertinent class instructions leading to off- task behavior. This cell phone use also distracts students who are in close
proximity of the student using the cell phone due to loud noise from video or music playing. Furthermore, this undesirable
behavior distracts the teacher who constantly has to repeat instructions affecting lesson flow and delivery.
Desirable (expected) Behavior Targeted:
(1) Put cell-phones on silence and place in the cubby together with earphones in alphabetical order as entering classroom.
(2) Students must sit in groups to encourage collaborative learning.
(3) Students must open their notebooks and look forward at the teacher to the front of the class.
(4) Students must raise hands to answer or ask a question, shouting answers or questions are not acceptable.
Types of positive reinforcements - Reinforced when & how?
1. Immediate R+ Every other day that student comes to class (A/B cycle) student will place cell phone in cubby according to
last name allocation. Student will be rewarded with a star of a particular color, to place near their name on word wall.
2. Ongoing R+ At the end of the week, graph is drawn from stars from word wall. Student with most star for week determines
representation.
3. Overall R+ The class is working on visual way of representing data from the stars in table form, line graph, pie chart and
bar graph.
4. Explain how you will quickly & easily administer all R+ Checking word wall, by quick glance, allows the teacher to take
attendance.
Interactive Learning Activity:
Statistics: Cell Phone Plans: Grade 9 to 12
TEKs: 111.47 C 1A: Mathematical process standards. The student uses mathematical processes to acquire
and demonstrate mathematical understanding. The student is expected to (D) Communicate
mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using multiple representations, including symbols,
diagrams, and language as appropriate. (E)Create and use representations to organize, record and
communicate mathematical ideas.
At the end of this unit (6 teaching periods), students with the most amount of stars will be given
positive notes to carry home to their parents showing their accomplishments with this unit of work, as
well as, their results displayed on the word wall in some graphical form, decided by the students who succeeds with the
most positive notes and they obtain their snack of choice from selection container.
Explain HOW you will Teach the Desired Behaviors:
I will teach the desired behaviors by modelling the desired behavior for the class. As the teacher, I will have a sample cubby
where my phone will be placed in, at the beginning of class to show students expected behavior. I will award myself a gold
star for remembering, placed by my name in the chart on the word wall. I will also sit in my seat, interact positively with
groups of students and raise my hand enthusiastically to answer. Student is rewarded with a positive note at the end of the
week for obtaining maximum stars.
Explain HOW you will Teach the Plan:
I will teach the Plan to my students by modelling the counting of the number of stars each student accumulated at the end of
each week, and representing in table form, linear graph, bar graph and pie chart. Showing different ways of representing the
desired behaviors.
Demonstrate all Necessary Items:
Pencils, Paper, graphing papers, ruler, student worksheet, star stickers, white board markers, white board, projector.
