Set Induction: -As you know, over the past few days we
have been working to recognize units of a sentence
including nouns, adjectives and verbs. Can someone tell
me what a noun is? An adjective? A Verb?
-Today we are going to put our knowledge of these
words into action.
Learnable Piece: The goal of today is to recognize and
act out the words we see on the papers posted around
the room. Each group has a grid sheet with a section of
nouns, adjectives and verbs. As you read each paper
around the room, write down all of the words you
recognize from each type. By the end of this lesson, I
want an example of each of these sentence units.
Presentation of New Material/Directions:
-In your groups and around the room, you will see 10
different stations and sheets of paper at them.
-Each station has a sentence with a combination of
verbs, adjectives and nouns.

-Each group will initially work to fill out their grid with
words that fall into the categories of verb, noun and
adjective.
-After each group identifies the words in each category,
they will move to the next station but here is the twist!
-Whatever verb was used in the sentence at your station
is the way you need to get to the next station. For
example, if the sentence was about walking like a crab,
you crabwalk to your next destination.
-Remember to work with you team to find all the verbs,
nouns and adjectives you can! Also remember to have
fun.
-SAFETY: Use only the edges of the classroom to move
from group to group. There are too many backpacks,
desks and chair to trip over in the middle. Be mindful of
those around you, pay attention to other groups moving
in different ways and keep yourself safe!
Transition: None needed here.

Activity: The lesson will take place around the outside

walls of the classroom. Teacher using BTW methods
and circling the room to provide positive pin pointing and
monitor progress/safety.

sentences for all of them to continue moving around the
room.
Asking for volunteers to create sentences including
verbs, nouns and adjectives.
