Reflections
Day 7: Tuesday 1st March 2016 Science Lesson - (Close and Far Away)
On March 1st I taught KG2A students in Al-Wahda private school a science lesson
and it was about close and far away. My outcomes for this lesson were identifying the
close and far away, classifying the close and far away objects and link between the
real life and the curriculum. I started the lesson by warm up, I asked the students to
stand up and make a circle and jump three times then club their hands three times, to
make them encouraged and interested to take the new lesson. After that I reviewed the
previous lesson with the students by asking them different questions. For introducing
the lesson I asked the students questions about the close and far away then I asked
them to give me examples from the real life about close and far away objects. After
introducing the lesson I did a whole class activity and this activity was close and far
away from me, I asked the students to stand in a circle in the carpet then I gave them
instructions about the activity after that I asked them to come close to me and then go
far away from me. I did this activity five times then I asked the students to go back to
their places.
After the whole class activity I did the differentiation activities. For the high level
students had have a paper that has close and far away pictures and they had to match
between the far away word and the pictures that demonstrate the far away then they
matched between the close word and the pictures that demonstrate close, then the
students had to write the word close under the close pictures and they wrote far away
under the far away pictures.
For the medium level students had a paper that has close and far away pictures and
they had to match between the far away word and the pictures that demonstrate the far
away then they matched between the close word and the pictures that demonstrate
close. For the low level students they had a paper that has close and far away picture
and they had to circle the close pictures and color the far away pictures. Before
starting the activities I explained to the students what each group will do and I showed
them an example of what they had to do then I divided the groups and asked them to
start. While the students were doing the activities I was observing them to check if
they were doing the right thing, my MST and the assistant helped me to observe all of
the students and check their work. After the differentiation activity I did a small

Fatima Obaid H00298145

activity to conclude the lesson which was close and Far away flashcards, in this
activity I had different flashcards that have close and far away pictures and I asked the
students to sit in two lines in the carpet (boys' line and girls' line) and each time I
showed the students a picture and I asked them if its close or far away then when they
answered right they went to the end of the line and when all of the students finished
they went to sit on their places. After that I asked them different questions about the
lesson to check if they understood it.
In this lesson I used variety of learning styles such as visual and physical. The visual
learning style when I used colorful pictures and flashcards to explain the lesson and
do the different activities and this helped visual learners to understand the lesson
easily. For the physical learning was when the students did the close and far away
from me activity also when they used the pencils to do the different activities and this
helps students to develop their fine and gross motor skills.
In my opinion I think that my lesson was successful because I was able to achieve my
learning outcome and the students understood the lesson moreover I was able to
deliver the information about the close and far away to the students in an easy way by
doing variety of activities and I used variety learning styles which helped me maintain
the time and let the students build the knowledge of the new lesson in a short time
furthermore the students were active with me and they did good work in the activities
and they enjoyed them.

Day 8: Wednesday 2nd March 2016 English Lesson - (Letters J and Q)

On March 2nd I taught KG2A students an English lesson about letter Q and J. before I
started the lesson I did the morning circle. In the morning circle I greeted the students,
took attendance and I reminded the students of the rules. After the morning circle I
did a small warm up activity which was asking the students to stand up and sing the
shake your sillies out song. After that I reviewed the previous lesson with the students
by asking them different questions. I introduced the lesson by shown the students
letter J and Q songs then I asked the students to give me words that start with letter (J)
& words that start with letter (Q). After that I wrote letter J and letter Q on the board
and I asked some students to come and write it on the board. For the whole class
activity I did the missing litter, in this activity I wrote different words in the white
board but without writing the first letter and I put a picture to demonstrate each word
then the students had to say the word and write the first litter (J j) or (Q q). According
to Lev Vygotsky "He states cognitive development stems from social interactions
from guided learning within the zone of proximal development as children and their
partners' co-construct knowledge." (McLeod, 2007)
After the whole class activity I did one activity for the differentiation but in different
levels. The activity was jellyfish and queen craftwork. In this activity the students had
to choose what craftwork they wanted to do, jellyfish craftwork or the queen
craftwork. For the high level students I gave the students colorful letter J and a white
paper and they had to make a jellyfish using it also I gave them a face and a crown
and they had to color the face and the crown then they cut the crown and stick it on
the face to make a queen then when they finish they had to stick their jellyfishes or
queens on the sticks. The Students had to cut everything by themselves without any
help from me.
For the medium level students I gave the students colorful letter J and a white paper
and they had to make a jellyfish using it also I gave them a face and a crown and they
had to color the face and the crown then they cut the crown and stick it on the face to
make a queen then when they finish they had to stick their jellyfishes or queens on the
sticks. I cut the letter J for the jellyfish and they had to cut the jellyfish and stick the
letter J on it. For the queens I cut the crown for the students and they had to cut the
face and stick the crown on it then they had to color it and stick it on the stick.

Fatima Obaid H00298145

Moreover for the low level students I gave them the same activity but I cut everything
for them and the students only had to stick the letter J on the jellyfish and for the
queen they had to color the face and the crown then they glued the crown on the face
and I helped the students to stick their queens and jellyfishes on the stick. For the
closing activity I did letters J and Q words, in this activity I asked the students to sit in
a circle on the carpet and I showed them different pictures that start with letters J or
Q. I showed the students a picture every time and I asked them to tell me what is the
picture and with which letter it starts. To assess the students I asked them different
question about the lesson and what we did for the lesson moreover I asked them about
what they learn in this class.
In this lesson I used variety of learning styles such as visual, auditory and physical.
The visual learning style when I used colorful pictures and flashcards to explain the
lesson and do the different activities and this helped visual learners to understand the
lesson easily. For the physical learning was when the students danced to shake your
sillies out moreover when they students cut and glue the objects in the activities I
think that this helped students to develop their fine and gross motor skills. The
auditory learning style is when I played shake you sillies out song in the warm up and
when I used the letter J and Q songs to introduce the lesson.
In my opinion I think that my lesson was successful because I was able to achieve my
learning goals which are identify the letters (J) & (Q) and memorize new words that
start with letter (J) and new words that start with letter (Q). Moreover I think that the
activities I choose were good for the students' abilities and I think that it helped them
develop their cognitive, physical, language and social skills. Also I believe that I was
able to deliver the information about the letter J and Q to the students in an easy way
by doing variety of activities and using variety learning styles, furthermore the
students were active and they were engaged with me and the activities also they
enjoyed the activities and they did a good job.

Day 12: Wednesday 9th March 2016 Math Lesson Use (-) symbol (Subtraction)
On March 9th I taught KG2A students a math lesson which was about use symbol
which is subtraction. My learning outcomes for this lesson were students will
understand the meaning of subtraction, acknowledge how to use (-) symbol and be
able to use objects to subtract. I started the lesson by greeting the students, reminding
them of the rules and reviewing the previous lesson by asking questions then I showed
the students a video about five little monkeys after that I asked the students different
questions about the subtraction. I did a small activity in the carpet to introduce the
subtraction concept and make it easier for students to understand what subtraction is,
the activity was zoo animals' activity, in this activity I had a zoo picture and different
animals pictures I showed the students the zoo and the animals then I asked the
students to count the zoo animals with me then I told them a story about subtract after
that I asked the students to count how many animals are left in the zoo. The story was
(There were 3 lions, 3 giraffes and 2 elephant in the zoo, at night the zoo man forgot
to lock the lions' door before he go to sleep so the lions left the zoo and in the
morning when the zoo man went to the lions' place he did not find them).
After the whole class activity I explained to the students the differentiation activities
and what each group will do then I divided them in to three groups according to their
levels. The high level students had a paper and two dices (one for number from 1-5
and the other one for numbers from 6 10) I asked the students to throw the dice with
the big numbers first and write the number on the paper then add the subtraction
symbol after that I the students had to throw the small numbers dice and write the
number on the white paper to create a subtraction question then and then the students
had to count to answer the question. The medium level students I gave them different
flashcards that has pictures of turtle and the students had to count the turtles and write
the subtraction question then answer the questions. For the low level I gave the
students a ruler that is made from papers and there will be 5 monkeys on the ruler, in
the ruler there were a subtraction question and the students had to use the monkeys'
ruler to find the answer for the subtraction question. After the differentiation activities
I did the closing activity and it was about subtraction questions flashcards this activity
was for the whole class. In this activity I showed the students numbers flashcards and
I asked them about each number then I made questions from them about the
subtraction on the white board then and I asked the students to come and write the

Fatima Obaid H00298145

answers. To assess the students I asked them different question about the lesson and
what we did for the lesson. According to Erik Erikson "children from 5 to 11 develop
self-confidence by interacting with their peers and through encouragement and praise
by parents and teachers." (Basic theories and principles of child development)
In my opinion I think that my lesson was successful because I was able to achieve my
learning goal. Moreover I think that the activities I choose were good for the students'
abilities and skills. I think that it those activities helped students to develop their
cognitive, physical, language, mathematical and social skills. Also I believe that I was
able to deliver the information subtraction in an easy way by doing variety of
activities and using variety learning styles such as visual, auditory and physical,
moreover the students were active and they were engaged with me also they enjoyed
the activities and they did a good job.

on the smart board and asking the students to sing it. I did a whole class activity and it
was about reading the letters. In this activity I had the letters flashcards and I raised
one flashcard every time and I asked the students to tell me the letter and its sound. I
did this activity couple of times then I explained the differentiation activities to the
students after that I divided the students depending on their levels and I asked them to
sit on their chairs to start the activities.
For the high level students I gave them a worksheet. In the worksheet there were two
circles the first one for the upper case letters and the other one for the lower case
letters and they had to write all the upper case letters in the upper case letters circle
and all the lower case letters in the lower case letters circle. For the medium level
students they also had a worksheet. In the worksheet there were two circles the first
one for the upper case letters and the other one for the lower case letters and I gave
each student an envelope that has all of the letters and they had to classify them in the
two circles. For the low level students they also did a worksheet. The worksheet had
all the letters written in a dotted font and the students had to follow the dots and write
all the letters.
After the differentiation activities I did the closing activity with the students. The
activity was about finding the letters flashcards. I gave each group flashcards that has
all of the letters and every time I asked one student of each group to find the letter I
asked them to search for.
In this lesson I used variety of learning styles such as visual, auditory and physical.
The visual learning style when I used colorful letters flashcards to do the different
activities and this helped visual learners to understand the lesson easily and when I
played the video. For the physical learning style was when the students wrote the
letters moreover when they medium level students glued the letters in the activities I
think that this helped students to develop their fine and gross motor skills. The
auditory learning style is when I played the ABC song in the warm up.

Cones)
On April 12th I taught KG2A students a math lesson which was about cylinders and
cones (3D shapes). My learning outcomes for this lesson were students will recognize
the 3D shapes cylinders and cones, understand what are cylinders and cones and be
able to find cylinders and cones objects from real life. I started the lesson by greeting
the students, reminding them of the rules and reviewing the previous lesson by
showing them the 3D shapes and asking different questions. I introduced the new
lesson by showing the students the cone first and explain it to them then I showed
them a video about cone. After that I asked the students to repeat the word cone after
me. After the cone I showed the students the cylinder and I explained it to them then I
showed them a video about it and where we can find it. I asked the students to repeat
the word cylinder after me. I did the whole class activity which was finding the
objects. In this activity I asked the students to fine objects in the classroom that
demonstrate the 3D shapes cylinders and cones.
After the first activity I did one activity for the differentiation but in different levels.
The activity was about making cylinders and cones using papers. Before starting the
activities I explained to the students what each group will do and I showed them an
example of what they had to do then I divided the groups and asked them to start.
For the high level students had to choose what 3D shape they wanted to make. For the
cylinders students had colorful A4 papers and they had to fold it to make cylinders
then they designed it and colored it as they want then they drew the cylinders on the
white paper. For the cone students had a paper and they folded it to make a cone then
they colored it and designed it as they want. For the medium level students had to
choose what 3D shape they wanted to make. For the cylinders students had cardboard
tubes and some paints they had to design it and color it then they drew cylinders on
the white paper. For the cone students had a paper and they folded it to make a cone

Day 16: Wednesday 13th April 2016 Science Lesson Sizes, Shapes and Colors.
The last lesson that I taught in Al-Wahda private school was a science lesson and it
was about sizes, shapes and colors. I taught this science lesson on April 13 th . I started
the class by playing with the students stand up and sit down for two minutes then I
started the lesson. I reviewed the previous lesson which was about the five senses by
asking the students different questions. I introduced the lesson by asking the students
different questions then I asked them to guess what the lesson's name is. I showed the
students a video about the shapes then I asked them different questions about the
video. After the shapes video I showed the students a video about the colors. I
explained the sizes concept by comparing between the students' heights and using the
shapes to explain the big and the small.
I gave the students the first activity which is sorting the shapes by its size. In this
activity students had a paper that has two circles one for the big and one for the small
and they had an envelope that has big and small colorful circles and squares. Students
sorted the shapes depending on their sizes on the paper.
I explained the differentiation activities to the students after that I divided the students
depending on their levels and I asked them to sit on their chairs to start the activities.
For the high level students classified the objects. In this activity the students had
different objects and they had to classify them on the baskets depending on the sizes
and the shapes and I asked the students about the objects colors. Furthermore, the
medium level students did drawing the objects activity. Medium level students had a
paper that has tables, one for the sizes and one for the shapes and they had to draw
objects that demonstrate each size in the table and they drew the shapes (square and
circle) then they colored them. For the low level students they did color the shapes
depending on their sizes activity. In this activity students had a paper that has the
shapes square and circle in different sizes and they had to color the small shapes with
the red color and the big shapes with the green color.
After the differentiation activities I praised the students for their good work then I
started the closing activity. In the closing activity students had envelopes that have
flashcards about short, long, small and big. There were four baskets, one for big, one
for small, one for short and one for long. Students had to classify the flashcards on the
