Classroom Management Plan


Department: Music
Course: Wind Ensemble

Teacher: Mr. Dugger

Student rules/expectations:
1. Adhere to all district and school policies as outlined in the
student handbook and discussed by the teacher.
2. Adhere to all classroom expectations as outlined by the
teacher and found in the class syllabus.
3. Bring all required materials (described below) to every
rehearsal.
4. Be respectful to the band director, fellow students, the
learning environment, and any guest the may be present
during rehearsal.
5. Participate in all pre-determined rehearsals and
performances (in and out of school) as outlined in the course
syllabus and on the music department calendar.
a.) If a student misses more than 10 school-day
rehearsals, he/she will not be eligible for
participation in performances.

Assigned band folder
Instrument and all equipment necessary for successful
performance (reeds, valve oil, slide grease, mouthpiece, etc.)
5. Metronome and tuner (can be stand alone device, cell phone
app, or classroom provided device).
Students who fail to bring required materials to rehearsal on a
regular basis may be subject to further punishment.

Failure to adhere to outlined


rules/ expectations:

1. First Offense: Warning from teacher


2. Second Offense: Removal from rehearsal and conference
with teacher
3. Third Offense: Detention and conference with parent and
student
4. Fourth Offense: Grade points taken into consideration and
conference with necessary administrator.

Multiple and continued


Offenses:

Students receiving multiple or continued offenses OR who


are receiving a grade lower than a C average may risk
losing performance opportunities. Members of the Wind
Ensemble are expected to uphold the policies outlined above at
all times. Performing with this elite ensemble is a privilege and
students will not be permitted to participate if their behavior is
continually inappropriate or their grades are below average.
Because performance are a required component of the course
and factor in to the overall grade, an additional assignment will
be given for any and all missed performances.

Severe Offense Policy

General Music Department


Rules:

In addition to the procedure outline above, students are also


subject to the district-wide severe offense policy:
1. A student participating in any activity that could harm
him/herself or other students will be immediately referred to
administration and their respective parents will be contacted.
2. Any student who commits a suspension/ expulsion action as
outlined in the Student Handbook will be immediately referred
to administration and parents will be contacted.
3. The school district has a zero tolerance policy for any form of
bullying. If this is suspected in any way the witness/subject is
encouraged to report it to a teacher or administrator
immediately.

Be on time and ready to rehearse when class begins.


Rehearsal time is at a minimum and adherence to this is of
the utmost importance.
No food, candy, or drink is permitted in any of the music
department facilities. Water is the ONLY exception.
All electronic devices must be out of site during rehearsal
unless they are in use for the betterment of the
rehearsal/performance process.
(Ex. Tuners/ Metronomes)
Backpacks and other personal items should be stowed in the
music lockers and not be with you during any rehearsal. The
teacher will allow optimal time to retrieve these items at the
end of class.
Active participation in all classroom discussions is required.
