PURPOSE: Outlines monthly maintenance on the HACH CL17 total residual chlorine
analyzers
SCOPE: Scheduled monthly maintenance
RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY: Properly trained instrumentation personnel are
responsible for execution and reporting of results to supervision and as required to
operations. They shall inspect the installation, change reagents, clean the colorimeter
and make adjustments to ensure analyzer reading is stable and within calibration
specifications. Report repairs performed or needed to supervision.
SAFETY: Analyzer chemistry is hazardous. Review JSA, embedded MSDS and use
PPE as required.
ENVIRONMENT: Follow all applicable City of Dallas environmental guidelines as set
forth in the City of Dallas environmental policies. See MSDS for chemical disposal
WORK INSTRUCTION:
1. Notify Operations
2. Visual Inspection
2.1. Inspect installation for leaks or malfunctions
2.2. Verify sample flow through weir column
3. Change reagents and clean colorimeter

4. Verify calibration
4.1. Observe analyzer reading has stabilized
4.2. Perform total chlorine test per test kit instructions
4.3. Adjust calibration as needed
4.3.1. See section 4.7.5.2 in user manual
5. Upon completion notify Operations you are returning equipment to service
