Loving to Learn
‘Sitting in a classroom and listening to a lecture speaking on the molecular structure of
lycerol is the farthest thing from exciting. It is often hard to pay attention and absorb the
information. However, we often rationalize with ourselves that if we are interested in the topic,
we lear better. | may struggle with chemistry because it is no fun to comprehend all that alien
information, but when it comes to something I love, it's like I can't get enough of it.
‘Since before I even got my license I’ve always tinkered with engines. My father and I
built a go-cart that could go 45 mph in a motor that we solely built. The love affair of putting
something together and watching it work is amazing. This transferred to when I got my license
and got my first truck. I loved the way fn 8 cylindet Younded and wondered why ff sounded that
way. Soon I was online looking at forums, watching videos, and researching any info I could to
make my truck faster. What I leamed is, trucks are heavy. Because of this sad realization that my
poor Toyota Tundra was never going to be drag strip ready, I got a new platform. I purchased a
2004 Ford Mustang GT in an attempt to achieve my goal of a fast car. £0, 003'in parts and

‘countless hours of frustration, sweat, blood, hardware runs, you name it I created a monster. A
stock Mustang lke the one had makes 240 rar wheel horsepower. Wheel horsepower and
crank horsepower are different in many ways, Crank horsepower is what a company would
averse, but there ia power loss trough the drivetrain. The “rel” horsepower is wha the caractually puts down to the wheels and this is measured by a dynojet. When I was finished with my
{Grustang it made over 400 wheel horsepower and over 500 fVibs of torque. Staggering numbers

for what seemed to be an innocent old hiustang. I love learning about cars and I continue toto
this day. The uustang showed me a lot more than just building a car. It taught me a lot about
‘monetary discipline, work ethic, and most importantly how to do something right.
