Where it all began...

The legacy begins with the birth of Michael Jeffrey Jordan on on February 17, 1963
in Brooklyn, New York.
Jordan is the son of James R. Jordan and Delores Jordan.
He was not an only child as he has the fourth of five children.

Early Basketball Life

Michael Jordan began his basketball career in Wilmington, North Carolina.


Wilmington is where Jordan was raised in most of his childhood.
He attended Emsley A. Laney High School where his talent was discovered.
Jordan would be granted a basketball scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill while also
majoring in cultural geography.

Collegiate Career

Jordan began his college career at The


University of North Carolina and started his
freshman year.
He played under Coach Dean Smith who saw
incredible potential in him.
Jordan left the university one year before he
would graduate. However, he would return to
finish his degree in 1986 despite his new career.

Professional Career

Michael Jordan was drafted to the Chicago Bulls in


1984.
He was very successful as he won rookie of the
year for 1985, and also received a gold medal in the
1984 Summer Olympics.
Jordan accomplished many achievements in his
early career such as Defensive Player of the Year,
Multiple Most Valuable Player awards, A gold
medal in the 1992 Olympics (Dream Team)
Jordan also led the bulls to the franchise's first
NBA title, which would lead to three consecutive
wins.

A Brief Retirement

On October 6, 1993 Michael Jordan


retires from the NBA
On February 7, 1994 Jordan signed a
contract with the Chicago White Sox.
Jordan did this to commemorate his
father's death as he loved baseball.
This was not long lived as Jordan
soon returns to NBA.

The Road to Riches

When Jordan returned to the NBA,


he had not lost an ounce of talent.
Jordan would lead the Bulls to
another 3 NBA Championships while
also claiming the title of Most
Valuable Player in each final series.
Jordan would be voted to be one of
the 50 best basketball players of all
time.
Jordan would take his last shot with
the Chicago Bulls over the Utah Jazz
in 1998.

The Last Time Around

In 2000, Michael Jordan won the


athlete of the century award.
Jordan would come out of retirement
once more to play with the
Washington Wizards until 2003.
Jordan would invest nearly 15 Million
in 2006 to the Charlotte Bobcats
organization for partial ownership.
The team would eventually be sold to
Jordan in 2010.

The Long Legacy

Michael Jordan is undisputedly the greatest basketball


player of all time.
At his careers end, Jordan would allocate 32,292 scored
points, snagged 6,672 total rebounds, and distributed 5,633
assists in his career.
Jordan had also collected 6 NBA Championships, 5 Most
Valuable Players, 10 Scoring Titles, 14 NBA All Star
Appearances, 6 Finals MVPs, 2 NBA Defensive Player of
Years, and would also become an 11 time All-NBA First
team, and 9 time All-NBA Defensive team. Jordan would
also be awarded 2 Slam Dunk Contest awards.

The Air Jordans

In 1985, Nike debuted The Air Jordan I, a


truly revolutionary pair of basketball shoes.
This shoe serious would be numbered 1-23
in respect to Jordan's famous number.
The sale of the shoes are still so popular,
Jordan received nearly 100 Million from
Nike just last year (2015).
His signatures shoes have created a
financial juggernaut for Nike brand as he
netted nearly 2.6 billion just last year. Thats
a lot of shoes sold to a lot of people who
have never even seen him play.

Further Success

In April of 2009, Jordan was inducted


into the Naismith Memorial
Basketball Hall of Fame.
In 2015, Jordan qualified to be on
Forbes's annual billionaires list.
He holds nearly 500 Million in assets
from the Hornets Organization,
which is a money loser.
The money he made in 2014 equates
to all of his basketball salaries from
the Bulls and the Wizards combined.
