Reflection: Rough drafts are rough.

I dont know what direction I would like to go with this

thesis. Its so hard to get my thoughts together and I often find myself confused with how I should
structure my writing. I was going to go for the typical they say I say structure but I am worried
that it will get boring and overused. I dont really know how to add mass to my paper either.
How can I make it long enough without it seeming too fluffed up? I feel like ive gotten a lot of
valuable research collected on the topic but I am unsure how to structure all of it in a well
written paper.
I am writing this inquiry to better understand a movement I have heard a lot about. The
black lives matter movement has taken a hold of our nation and has demanded equality for
individuals of color. The United States has been a proponent of racism since its establishment,
therefore this issue is not a new beast for our leaders to tackle. Why do we continue to perpetuate
racism in our daily lives? Why are the fighters of racism looked down upon? These are all
questions I have asked myself while researching this inquiry. Through my extensive research and
by writing this thesis I am hoping to better understand this movement that has liberal college
students like myself in awe.
To understand what Black Lives Matter is, you must first understand how it was started.
Patrisse Cullors, anti-police violence organizer, Opal Tometi, immigration rights organizer, and
Alicia Garza, domestic workers rights organizer, are all founders of the Black Lives Matter
movement. The three women began the movement through social media, Garza sent out a tweet
to the black community pertaining to her love for black people after the acquittal of George
Zimmerman in the murder of Trayvon Martin. Soon after, Cullors replied to the tweet with
#BlackLivesMatter. After that, the movement gained traction and began to become the
headline story on newspapers internationally.

Like a modern Civil Rights movement, the BLM movement has its opposers. One in
which has gone as far as to say that the movement has raised the death rates of black individuals.

Barone supports this claim and the claim that BLM is working against itself by injecting
credible statistics into his writing, Even the New York Times has noticed. So far this year,
murders are up 76 percent in Milwaukee, 60 percent in St. Louis, 56 percent in Baltimore, and
44 percent in Washington, D.C,
