OurprojectwillconsistofresearchabouttheStonewallJacksonYouthDevelopment
CenterlocatedinConcord,NC.Allfivegroupmemberswillneedtofind10differentsources
usingbooks,onlinesources,interviews,etc.Throughweeklymeetingswewillpulltogetherour
resourcesandcollaborateonthisproject.Themaingoalofthesemeetingsaretomakesurewe
areallstayingontrackandfurtherprogressingonourproject.Wewillbepresentingourfindings
througha25minuteoralpresentation,alongsidewithapowerpointpresentation.
Ourgrouphasdecidedtopresentourresearchintheformofapowerpoint.Weare
beginningtolookupandresearchmanythingsonoursubject,butwealsoplanongoingand
visitingtheStonewallJacksonYouthDevelopmentCenterandthemuseumlocatedinCabarrus
County.Therewewilltakepicturesofsomeoftheremainingbuildingstoshowasavisualin
ourpresentation.Also,wewanttogetpicturesofsomeoftheoriginalbuildingsofftheinternet
sowecanshowsomecomparison.Alongwithpictures,wealsowanttotryandseeifthereare
anyshortvideoclipsof,orabout,thecenteravailableonlinethatwecouldsharewiththeclass.
Wehopethepicturesandclipswillgivebetterinsighttoourtopic.Thepicturesandvideoswill
allowustouseavisualandauralmode.Togaininsightonthedevelopmentcenterourgrouphas
alsoplannedtotryandspeakwithvariouspeopleatthemuseum,aswellaspeoplewholivein
thearea.Interviewingdifferentindividualswillhelpusgainmoreknowledgeonourtopic,and

alsoallowustoknowothersopinionsontheStonewallJacksonTrainingSchool.Byhearing
othersstoriesandopinions,itwillnotonlyallowustoexpandourknowledgeonoursubject,
butwillalsoallowustogiveathoroughpresentation.Allofourresearch,interviews,pictures
andvideosourgroupgatherswillgreatlybenefitourpresentationandwillhopefullyhelpus
covermanyofthequestionsourpeerswillhaveabouttheschool.
Ourgrouphassetupaplanforourprojectandourpresentation.Wehavegathered
togethereveryonesschedulesforconvenienttimesonmeetingtodiscussourproject.Weknow
wearetohavetensourceseach.Foroneofoursourceswehavedecidedtogotothemuseumin
Concord,assuggestedtous,andlookaroundtohopefullyfindapersonfromthemuseumto
interviewaboutourtopic.Visitingthemuseumwillfurthereducateusonourtopicandhelpus
betterourpresentation.Ourplanforourprojectwillbeeffectiveincreatinganoutlineanda
guidetokeepourrolesforourpresentationinline.Itwillprovideaguideforustofollowtohelp
betterorganizeourinformation.
Ourgroupwillalsoincorporatethedifferentmultimodesinourpresentation.Wehave
usedalinguisticmodethroughwritingourtwopageproposalandexplainingthelayoutofour
project.Wewillalsousealinguisticmodewhenpresentingourproject.Ourlinguisticmodewill
beusdeliveringaspokentextthroughpresentingourpowerpoint.
Next,weplanonusingavisualandauralmodewhilepresentingourtopic.Weintendon
usingpictureswetakeduringourvisit,whilealsofindingoriginalpicturesofthebuildingsand
surroundingssowecanshowsomecomparison.Alongwithpictures,wealsoplanontryingto
findavideoclipofthecentertotryandgivesomeperspectiveonourtopic.

Lastly,ourgroupwillusespatialandgesturalmodesduringourpresentation.Wewillbe
usingapowerpointandhaveitorganizedaccordingtowhatallwewillbetalkingabout.Also,
wehavearrangedatimetopracticeourpresentation,sowewillfeelcomfortablewithourtopic
andcantalktotheclass.Weknowitisimportanttohavegoodbodylanguageandfacial
expressionswhilepresenting,whichissomethingwewillmakesuretocoverwhengoingover
howwewillpresent.
