Context of the lesson (Give information about the lesson and where it fits. Or, this lesson is a
review of .. covered in previous lessons

This lesson is the second lesson in unit 8: All About Weather how does the sun heat earth? This lesson will
cover how does the sun heat earth by doing the experiment which contain measure the temperature of air,
water and soil through thermometers.

Teaching goal (State clearly what it is you plan to teach in this lesson

The overall aim of the lesson is to teach about how does the sun heat earth by doing a nice experiment in
the student center after they remember the meaning of words ( sun, heat and earth).

Learning objectives (State clearly exactly what you want the ss to be able to do by the end of
the lesson.

Students will be able to experiment with using materials ( 2 cups, water, soil and 3 thermometers).
Students will be able to compare the temperature of air, water and soil by using 3 thermometers.
Students will be able to analyze how does the sun can heat earths land, air and water differently?

Assumptions about prior learning (Mention what the ss know from previous lessons or their
experience eg The learners will have encountered or be familiar with or aware of...)

Students may know how to read the numbers in the thermometer.

Students may have knowledge about sun, earth, water and soil.

Anticipated problems and possible solutions (Mention problems and solutions related to
management, tasks or students

Ahmed is talking with his friend during the teacher explains for them the lesson the teacher will
change his seat.
Mohammed did not understand how to do the experiment the teacher will ask someone who
understand to explain for his.
Rim did not know how to read the thermometer.. Teacher will give her instructors to know how to
read it.
Rashid is very shy and he hate to talk with other .... The teacher do a good reinforcement to encourage
them such as. " Ahmad is a good speaker "
Personal focus for this lesson (Based on your previous observed lesson, identify one or two
aspects that need improving. Eg. be more animated, monitor children more closely, provide
more challenging tasks etc)

I will focus to encourage Rashid to be confidence .

I am going to focus on time management . I only have 50 min to deliver this lesson .

Target language (list language being taught

Teacher language (list language used by you,
eg.vocabulary, structures, functions)

explanations)

Main tasks or activities (list the tasks in

sequence eg flashcard recognition,
worksheet, drawing posters etc)

1. Remember the meaning of 3 words by using

PowerPoint. whole class
2. Doing the experiment in the student center by
using instructions card and materials. group
work
3. Write their result\ observation in the stickers
and put it in the board to compare their result

4. Homework individual
5. Make graphic organizer about what did they
learn peer work

Engage

The teacher will start the class by asking them about the day and the date.

T: Hello my lovely students. How are you today?

Ss: Fine thank you.
T: who can tell me what is today?
S ( Fatima): Today is
T: well done. Now who can write and the day and the date on the board? .. Mira come

Teacher will engage the students to the lesson by show them a three pictures that relate to the
topic of the lesson.
She will open the PowerPoint
in slide 2 which includes 3 pictures ( pictures for sun, heat and earth).

T: What do you see in the picture? Raise your hand please.

S: Sun.
T: what do you see also?
S: Thermometer and earth.
T: excellent.
She will ask them to repeat the word sun, heat and earth and she will tell them the meaning of
each one
to be like a remembering for them

T: say together.. Sun

Ss: Sun
T: Sun means the star that is the central body of the solar system. Now say again sun.
Ss: Sun.

T: say together heat .. heat means the sensation of warmth or hotness.
Ss: heat.

T: last word is earth. Say together earth

Ss: earth
T: do you remember what is the meaning of the earth ?
S: earth is the planet third in order from the sun
T: Excellent .. I want one sentence that relate to these 3 words.
Students will thinking and they will raise their hand to answer question.
T: So, today Inshallah we will know about how does the sun heat earth?
Are you excited to know how?
Ss: yes.

This is the ( power point) which I use it in the engaging

part

Explore

The teacher will divide the students into 5 groups and each group have 4 students. She will give
to each group an instructions cards with the materials to do the experiment by their self in
student center.
Lesson description:
Students are going to measure the temperature of the air, soil and water by using thermometer
to determine who does the sun heat earth.

Materials:
Instructions card- 2 cup- water- soil - 3 thermometers.
Procedure:

1. The teacher will choose a leader for each group to guide their colleagues and to explain for them the
experiment.
2. She will give to each group the materials with the instructions card.

put the thermometer in cup of water and one in the one of soil.
put the cups outside the class near to the garden.
lay third thermometer next to the cups.
wait 1 hour.
Measure the temperature of the soil, water and air. Record and compare the temperatures.

Teacher will give to each group a small schedule to note their observation. They should
write the number of temperature.
They should note their observation here. ( observation table)

Explain

Teacher will give to each group a stickers to write in it about their result\ observation and put it in a yellow card.
They will write may be ( the water is very affected to the sun heat. Then the soil. After that, is the air. That is
mean the temperature for the air still the same)
Teacher will read their notes orally. Then she will explain for them how does the sun heat earth. She will tell
them that The atmosphere absorbs the heat, keeping it close to the Earth's surface where it can sustain

life. Without heat and energy from the sun, life on Earth would not exist. Light energy not only warms
the planet, it supplies the calories that are consumed by every living thing on the plane.

Elaborate

To check if the students understand the lesson or not. Teacher will give them a homework card to do it in their
home. This card includes one question.
( what will happen for the sea in the summer and in the winter?)
The answer of this question will shows the teacher if they understand or not.

Home work

winter ?

Evaluate

The last 10 minutes of the lesson. Teacher will give to each peer of students a big white card and colors
to make a graphic organizer about what did they learn. After they finish, they will put at the back of
their classroom.
