ml empty soda plastic containers.

-Display bottles in front of the room where all students can see them.
-Teacher uses think aloud strategy to model for students.
- Compare containers side by side and models reasoning for
determining which set of plastic bottles uses the most materials.
Teacher questions:
Which option produces more waste? Smaller containers
How do we know? When we compare them side by side we can see
that the smaller containers were made using more plastic than the
large bottle.
What can we do to reduce the amount of waste we will make when
we go shopping? Buy products that come in larger containers instead
of buying multiple small ones.
What are other ways that we can reduce waste in our community?
Our school? Our homes?

Technology tools include: Unit PowerPoint (slides 5-8), promethean
board/pen, empty plastic soda containers, anticipatory set anchor
chart, read aloud book.
