Main Design features

The chair simply has only 5 parts which include the main body and four
legs. The production of the chair will be fast and easy because of the simple
design. Choosing walnut as its material, the chair is stable. Since not a great
amount of the material was used in the design, the chair is supposed to be light but
also can contain at least 300Ib weights. The part of the chair that holds the back of
a person is designed to be a curved surface so that it is comfortable to sit back and
relax.

Summary and conclusions

Throughout the whole semester of learning CATIA V5-6R2014 that is
instructed by Dr. Wu, I had fun of gaining some solid knowledge of using CATIA
to help design and analyze products. Following the two books, CATIA V5
Workbook (Richard Cozzens (2009)) and CATIA V5 FEA Tutorials (Nader G.
Zamani (2012)), I did multiple problems and exercises. Although not all of the
functions that are in CATIA were covered by the course, we still played around
with the majority of the important workbenches. Working off from the books was
not the only thing that we did. After practicing the knowledge we learned with the
exercises in the books, we were assigned to finish one mini project and another
final project. After finished mini design project and final design project I finalized
my CATIA skill and feel confidence a lot. Thanks for Dr. Wu give me such a good
last semester at Penn State.
