Noodle Tools is a web-based student

research service that helps you


correctly cite sources in MLA, APA,
and Chicago/Turabian citation styles.
Use Noodle Tools throughout a
research project to track your
sources, take notes, create outlines,
collaborate with classmates, and
format and print your bibliography.

What else

Tools do?

Noodle Tools is divided into five sections:

1. Projects - a list of all your


research activities
2. Dashboard - a record of all the work
you have done so far on each project
3. Bibliography (also called Works
Cited) - a list of the sources you used to
find your information
4. Notecards - the notes you have
taken from each source
5. Paper - the place you type your
report

1- Getting Started Creating an Account


Click the orange button at the top of the page that says,
Current Users: Sign In.
On the next screen, you will see the option to Register or
Sign in

Register or
Sing In

Youll need your own Personal ID so that the Noodle


Tools system can store your work (youll be able to
access if from any computer with this ID).

If you already have an account, you can enter


your personal ID and password. You will be
asked to authenticate, or connect to a
library/paid subscription. Enter the librarys
user name noodle12 and enter the
password from the gold sheet at the
circulation desk to authenticate your account.
If you do not remember your personal ID, you
can either obtain a password hint or you can
create a new account.
To create a new account, begin by clicking the
button Create a Personal ID

Next, you will need to enter in some information to get your


account set up. At the next prompt, Subscription Type, choose
the circle next to the words, an account linked to a
school/library subscription or trial.

Here, you will enter noodle 12 in the box for


School/Library Username. Click in the next box and enter
the password that is listed on the gold sheet at the
circulation desk.
Now, you are ready to complete your New User
Registration. You will need to respond to the next three
items before registering.

About you: click in the


circle next to the choice
that reads, I am a
student or library patron.
You DO NOT need to enter
an expected year of
.graduation

Now, you will choose a Personal ID.


To make it easier to remember, you
can make this the same log-in name
that you use for the computer to
access your server.

After typing in your Personal ID/Log-in, click the


button to the right to check availability. Next, enter
your password. It may be easiest to use your
Student ID number for your password. Retype your
password in the box provided.

You are almost there! Under the heading Easy Log-In Retrieval,
enter your initials
For the boxed labeled, Phone, enter the last 4
digits of you phone number. Finally, click the button
that says Register. Congratulations! You have
created a new Noodle Tools account.

Creating a New Project


Click the Create a New Project button on the right side
of the screen. o Select a Citation style & level:
1. MLA Advanced
2. APA Advanced
3. Chicago Advanced

Entering Your Sources


Dashboard will be displayed at the top of the screen.
o Next choose Bibliography at the very top center of screen.
o Select the kind of source you are citing using Select acetate on
type drop down menu
on the top left of the screen.

Click the Create Citation button next to the


dropdown box.
o Click Continue or browse through the
Show Me box for more information on the
type of source you chose.
o Continue takes you to a blank template
where the source medium is chosen.
Fillin required information about the source
(author, title of source, title of article, etc)

Editing and Exporting


When finished modifying click the Submit
button at the bottom of the screen
You can Print/Export or Email your
formatted document. It can be
exported as a Microsoft Word
document, an .rtf document, or as
a Google document.
