Dear Ms. Alison Jackson Frasier,
I am currently writing to apply for the position of a Business Consultant in the Biological
Sciences Department. I am concluding my senior year at the University of Rhode Island, and I
am majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Leadership Studies. I heard about this job
through the Center for Student Leadership Development and I strongly believe that the qualities I
possess make me a unique candidate for the position for your company.
I have carefully gone over the responsibilities for the available job and I believe that you should
hire me for the position because I acquire many of the qualities and skills that your center is
looking for. I am currently a member of The Student Organization for Leadership Consultants
and because I am in this organization, I have shadowed and facilitated many retreats for other
student groups on campus. These retreats that aid other organizations focus on group
development, conflict resolution, and role clarification. By being a facilitator for these
organizations, I have worked with diverse groups on campus and have gained the skills and
knowledge of breaking the frame in any situation. Also, I am a Teaching Assistant for the
Physiology Department. As a Teaching Assistant for Physiology lab, I teach students the basic
concepts of the subject and aid them in understanding lab exercises using hands on experiments.
With a cumulative GPA of a 3.48, I encompass a good academic standing for this position. I
obtain strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
My top strengths include Achiever, Discipline, Focus, Individualization, and Competition. As an
Achiever, I always complete tasks to the best of my ability and I utilize my second strength
Discipline as finishing the task strong by using routine and structure. I Focus on what needs to
get done by following directions precisely and acquire personable skills through
Individualization when working with others. Lastly, I measure my progress as an individual
through Competition. These strengths make me an excellent candidate for the position of a
Business Consultant.
As you review my resume for the position you will notice I have taken on other leadership
positions on campus such as a URI 101 Mentor, an Operating Room Shadow, and a Leadership
Ambassador. I believe that my leadership positions and strengths will make me a great asset to
