(fantasy vs. reality)
Well lots of people think I have the most relaxing job in the world and dont get me wrong I do I
absolutely love it but during class Im not just meditating. I am making sure everyone is practicing safe
yoga and I offer suggestions and adjust my practice when I see people struggling.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
(educational level and requirements)
I attended Alvin High School. After this I just worked many jobs until I fell in love with health and yoga.
I was required to take many many hours of classes and trainings. I studied all different forms of yoga
and got nationally certified to teach. Now I just continue you going to seminars and training because I
am a lifelong learner and I love getting new certifications and knowledge.
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.
(day-to-day activities)
I wake up with the sun everyday. I dont like sleeping in too late because it wastes my day. My first class
is at 9 everyday so I always go up to the office and open. I teach classes for 3 hours then I have a break
everyday from 12-4. At this time I do office business and eat lunch and maybe even take a nap. At 4 I go
back and I teach some more until I finaly go home and have family time.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security)
Hahah thats funny because I am the owner. I like to think my job is secure and I think yoga has survived
for 5000+ years so it can survive 5000 mire!
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary)
Revised Fall 2013

Well I dont really feel comfortable telling you how much I make but both of my studios are very
successful and I am financially well off.
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?
(growth potential)
I think instructors (especaillly the good ones) are always a commodity and in demand. Yoga not only
allows for professional growth but selfgrowth too and thats something you wont find in most jobs.
***Questions 7-10 will be created by the ISM student.
7. Does your whole family participate in yoga?
Surprisingly yes I always stretch around the house and its something my kids did since they were
involved in sports. Currently none of my kids or my husband are involved in a class but it is definitely
part of their everyday life.
8. What is your favorite yoga pose?
I love down dog to cobra. It is so basic but when done correctly it can really relieve all of my tension in
my spine.
9. Why do you do yoga?
I do it because I love the way it makes me feel. I love being healthy and fit and yoga is how I do that.
10. Do you like vinyasa yoga?
It is my favorite form and that is why I teach it. I have a background in dance so it comes very naturally
to me and feels like thats how yoga is meant to be practiced. I love the fluidity of it.
