Classroom Management Plan
Students enrolled in Band are expected to maintain the highest level of
academic and social behavior skills. In order to maintain a safe,
welcoming teaching environment where student are eager to learn, the
following plan will be established and enforced.
Rules for the Classroom

Upon entry into the classroom, students should efficiently

assemble their instruments and move to their correct seat.
Although talking during this time is allowed, students are
required to use a soft indoor voice, and the talking cannot
distract them from the assembly of their instrument.
Students should be punctual to class, sectionals, and private
lessons. Students should be ready to play at the start of class,
sectionals, and private lessons.
After class begins, students shall remain quiet during the
rehearsal of a piece, while the teacher is talking, and while the
teacher is on the podium, unless the teacher specifies otherwise.
If a student has a question or comment, they may raise their
hand and wait to be recognized by the teacher before speaking.
Students should respect all faculty on campus, and comply with
requests or tasks asked by any faculty member.
Food, gum, and drinks (except water in a spill-resistant bottle)
are not allowed in the band hall, in order to keep the band hall
and the students instruments clean.
All required materials, including but not limited to instruments,
music, method books, pencils, reeds and mouthpieces, should be
brought to class everyday.
Students should refrain from playing or touching any instrument
that does not belong to them. Especially percussion instruments.
Students should avoid moving or borrowing school equipment
without permission. If permission is granted, the equipment
should be returned to where it belongs when not in use.
Students should make an effort to get along with all other
students.
Students should refrain from physical contact of any sort to other
students or faculty during class.

Students should refrain from using horseplay in the band hall at

all times. Horseplay includes fighting, running, unwanted
physical contact, touching or taking others materials, and
mistreating items in the band hall.
Students should treat others the way they want to be treated.
Students should always be ready and willing to learn.

Consequences
If students choose to break any of the aforementioned rules, one of the
following consequences will be enforced:
Verbal Warning

*All disciplinary actions will be consistent wit school policy and

premises.

instrument or property.

and inhibits students from learning. All discipline infractions will be
documented for future reference. Persistent discipline problems of any
nature will not be tolerated.
Along with the rules listed in this plan, students will also be expected
to follow all rules included in the School Districts disciplinary policy.
