presentation was going to be different because we needed to create a visual to present. In creating
my visual, I also got a little practice in the electronic aspect when I created my brochure.
Something important I learned from my oral presentation was the importance of body language.
Although I had a loud clear voice, looking back on my feedback I realize how big of a part
nonverbal communication played in any presentation. One of the best examples of an assignment
that contained all aspects is the one Im working on now, assignment #6. After having practice in
WOVE from earlier assignments, this assignment was a great way to show our progress in all the
modes.
To sum it all up, this course has taught me tools that I will continue to use in my writings
and other WOVE modes for the rest of my life. Something important that I have realized is that
the best way to advance in these aspects is by practicing them. From the beginning of the
semester, I think I have improved most in the W category. I think a big part of this was because
we used this aspect in nearly every assignment. Reflecting on this course and looking into the
future, I think my weakest aspect in this course was the oral mode. Knowing that this is going to
be one of the most important modes we use in day to day activities, it is important for me to
continue to practice presenting in front of groups and work on my body language and
enthusiasm. All WOVE modes are important however, and wanting to improve in all of them, I
will continue to practice all aspects because this class has showed me how practice improves my
skills. I am thankful I learned these lessons early so I can continue to practice them throughout
my college experience.
