Sensory
Highlight the appropriate age group:

1 year old 2 years old

Objective: (what you want children to learn) (one only) 2 points

Child will learn different materials feel differently when tugged or pulled.
Materials:
1. Cardboard box
2. Varying types and lengths of ribbon, strips, felt or pipe cleaners
3. Sticky tape
4. Pencil
5. Paint (optional)

Scaffolding: (child's prior knowledge this activity is building on) 3 points

Before doing this activity, the child will be able to touch the ribbon, felt, pipe cleaners, etc as
well as the box to learn how they feel in their hands, in their mouths, etc. Also before the activity,
give the child a tissue box so that they will give the natural response of pulling out the tissues.

Facilitation: (in detail how caregiver will support toddlers in this experience)
points

After creating the tugging box for the child, the caregiver will give the box over to the child
and let them explore it. Perhaps pull on one of the objects that is sticking out of the box to get the
child started.
