Student Teaching
Analysis of Student Learning
I.

Description
a. I am teaching Read 180/English 9 at Christiansburg High School. Both of
these classes are 90 minutes long. Each class contains about 30 students,
over half or more of which have an IEP or 504 plan. The students have
difficulty staying focused and staying on task. Their grades are not
motivating factors for them. I issued this pre and post test to them before
we started a unit on poetry.
b. The poetry unit is one of the last units that I taught during my student
teaching at Christiansburg High School. The purpose of this unit is to
introduce students to different types of writing and literature. I will help
the students relate poetry to their own lives by comparing it with rap
music.
c. The format for the pre-test consisted of matching, multiple-choice, and
true/false questions. The questions that were used on the post-test were
identical to the pre-test. However, I did have to remove some of the poetic
terms from the post-test because we were not able to cover them during
the unit.
