Evaluation: At the end of this lesson, participants will be asked to start filling out their daily
drug logs until the next class meeting. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend to the next
program.
Remaining Lessons (Informal)
Week 2: Today we will welcome participants again, especially any new participants joining us
for the first time. We will discuss the data from the first weeks drug log for those who want to
volunteer. The lesson today will be about the direct effect drugs have on the brain. We will
discuss how various drugs effect how we think or act. We will also include an assessment to see
how at risk you are from developing an addiction or to severe health issues. The names of those
who attended will be placed in a raffle.
Week 3- Guest Speaker: Sandra Bargainnier Todays lesson will be a workshop on what is an
addiction and the process of becoming addicted. Sandra Bargainnier will encourage everyone to
participate in a discussion about gateway drugs and the timeline of addiction for several drugs.
PowerPoints including photos and short videos for visuals. At this point, participants will be
continue to be encouraged to keep track of their daily drug log. It is important to stress
confidentially and that lying does not help the cause and instead hurts the participant. The names
of those who attended will be placed in a raffle.
Week 4: In todays lesson we will be discussing how media influences and publicizes drug
usage. We will begin by asking for examples individuals have seen or heard. We will then search
them up as we go along and show them on the projector. We will be having a discussion asking if
participants believe they have ever used or were intrigued by drugs due to the glorification of
advertisements, movies, shows, or media. The names of those who attended will be placed in a
raffle.
Week 5- Guest Speaker: Sarah Formoza: Todays lesson will be an open workshop to all
students on campus who want to learn about the lack or increase of nutrition due to various
drugs. Dietician, Sarah Formoza will present statistics from Suny Oswego students and Oswego
County. In addition, a short animated video of why we are hungry will be displayed. An open
discussion will take place and participants who are users are encouraged to mention their diets
when on a drug opposed to when they are off a drug. The names of those who attended will be
placed in a raffle.
Week 6- Guest Speaker: Trish DeWolf: For todays lesson we will be discussing why people
begin using drugs. We will discuss factors that influence drug usage: peer pressure,
environment, trauma, and genetics. Trish will present data and statistics on what age people
begin using drugs and at what point does someone move onto a harsher drugs. In conclusion,

we will end todays lesson with true or false questions. Again, the names of those who attended
will be placed in a raffle.
Week 7- Guest Speaker: Michelle Sloan: Today will be an open workshop for anyone who is
questioning life after college. For those with a drug addiction it may be consider life in 2 or 3
years while others may not be able to think about what they will do tomorrow. It is important to
stress the damage drugs place on your future, impairing your judgement. Then there are
occasional drugs users who may not think they are at risk until there job or internship theyre
applying for ask for a drug test. A power point will be presented by Michelle Sloan on how long
drugs stay in your system as we well as possible professions individuals would like to part take
in. As always the names of those who attended will be placed in a raffle.
Week 8- Guest Speaker: Brian Wallace: For todays lesson we be an open workshop to will
discuss how exercise can affect your brain, body, stress and overall level of happiness. We will
talk redirecting all of your time from using drugs to exercising or meditating. We use videos and
volunteers to practice exercising the correct way. We will also talk about how you dont need
drugs to bulk up (using steroids) and what are the way of doing it naturally. As always the names
of those who attended will be placed in a raffle.
Week 9-Wrap-up lesson: Today is our last lesson of the semester and we will be concluding our
time together by filling out process evaluations. This will help us to better our program for next
semester so please be completely honest with us. Before we begin our pot luck we will find out
who the winners of the raffle are. In conclusion, we will discuss roughly when our program will
begin next semester and encourage everyone to come again, bring friends, and feel free to
contact us if youre having difficulties or just have questions.
