ATTACHMENT THEORY
Attachment

is a deep and enduring

emotional bond that connects one
person to another across time and
space (Ainsworth, 1973; Bowlby,
1969).
The attachment between a child
and an adult is vital in their ability
to learn. A lack of attachment or
bonding will affect their emotional,
physical, social and cognitive ability.

Although

resources tend to focus

on the harmful effects, it is also
apparent that an unhappy
marriage can be more detrimental
than divorce on both the parents
and children (Baker, pg. 153).

violent or substance abuse
situations.

accommodate what is best for

they know why their parents are not
together and understand that they
are still loved as well as important

Mending that Bond

Divorce

cause of the students ability
to learn It is actually what
happens during and after
divorce that will affect them
at a greater capacity.

though the students are

gathering their information on
their own, we need to make sure
that we are posing questions to
provoke students to think and
feel comfortable exploring the
direction they want to go.

our own personal opinion, we

had a very hard time with this
inquiry project.
This was because we found it
overwhelming could not figure
out our own sense of direction.
