CAPSAICIN
Capsaicinis an active
component ofchili
peppers, which
areplantsbelonging to
thegenusCapsicum. It is
anirritantformammals,
includinghumans, and
produces a sensation of
burning in
anytissuewith which it
comes intocontact.

CARVACROL
Carvacrol is present in
theessential oilofOriganum
vulgare(oregano), oil ofthyme,
oil obtained frompepperwort,
andwild bergamot. The essential
oil ofThymesubspecies contains
between 5% and 75% of
carvacrol, whileSatureja(savory)
subspecies have a content
between 1% and 45%.Origanum
majorana(marjoram)
andDittany of Creteare rich in
carvacrol, 50% resp. 60-80%.
It is also found intequila.

ESTRADIOL
Estradiol, is a humansex
hormoneandsteroid, and the
primary female sex hormone. It
is named for and is important in
the regulation of
theestrousandmenstrualfemal
e reproductive cycles. Estradiol is
essential for the development
and maintenance of female
reproductive tissues but it also
has important effects in many
other tissues including bone.
While estrogen levels in men are
lower compared to women,
estrogens have essential
functions in men as well.

EUGENOL
Eugenol is used inperfumeries,
flavorings,essential oilsand
in medicine as a
localantisepticandanaesthet
ic. Eugenol can be combined
withzinc oxideto form a
material known aszinc
oxide eugenol which
hasrestorativeandprosthodo
nticapplications in dentistry.
For example,zinc oxide
eugenolis used for root canal
sealing.

SESAMOL
Sesamolis a naturalorganic
compoundwhich is a
component ofsesame oil. It is a
white crystalline solid that is a
derivative of phenol. It is
sparinglysoluble in water, but
miscible with most oils. It can be
produced by organic synthesis
fromheliotropine.
Sesamol has been found to be an
antioxidant that may prevent
the spoilage of oils. It also may
prevent the spoilage of oils by
acting as an antifungal.

Other uses:

Antimicrobial agent
Used in industrial purposes for producing compounds like azo
dyes, phenopthalien
Used for the preparation of picric acid (explosives, dyeing silk and
wool)
Drugs (aspirin (Salicylic acid), salol, phenacetin, etc.)
