The unidirectional glass fabric of 580 GSM used in the current work was supplied

from Saertex. It consists of E-glass fibers. The average diameter of the fibers
measured over 5 samples was 17 micro-meter. The mechanical properties of the
monofilament are of interest in the present study. The Axial modulus as reported
by Prassana et al. is 93.32 GPa. Breaking strength was 2035.95 MPA and axial
tensile failure strain was .0224.
